Problems with Keyboardsettings!
I have the mac version of oolite - newest.
Most of the keys are not working, like the tab for the energybomb, the ` for comlog, switching compass mode, the \ (alt shift 7) for ...? dont remember. everything with no effect.
Also I saw a description of "emergency hyperspace" never heard of that (?).
Also rotating the cargo was new to me. Edit: is described in the manual. I read over it.
The game isnt playable with half of the keys not working and half of the keys not known at all! Why is there no _complete_ Manual? And what should I do to get a correct keyconfig.plist?
all the best, j

Hmm, the energy bomb does seem to be broken in 1.68. As for the others: due to the way Oolite handles keys, non-English keyboard layouts won’t work out of the box. Personally I switch to a UK layout to play/test. I realise this isn’t optimal.
There is no up-to-date manual because no-one has yet written one. Marianne started on one a couple of weeks ago, I don’t know how that is progressing.

Energy bomb on the Mac is tied to the "9" key.
Had a quick run through trying other controls and everything else seems to work but I am using an English keyboard.
Never heard of "emergency hyperdrive", where did you see that?

OK, I've updated the Wiki with the information about the Energy bomb key but if somebody knows the Dec and Hex keycodes please can they add those.I wrote:Energy bomb on the Mac is tied to the "9" key.

On the same page I also found the emergency hyperdrive listed (shift+H) - it has a note that it "wont work, probably".

Energy bomb is tied to key code 9 -- which is the tab key. It works for me now, and I haven’t changed anything; my guess is I tapped it too fast when I was tested it yesterday.

Not for me it's not, it is the key 9, and I have made no changes to the keys used, currently running 1.68.

Well, it's not so much of a problem as long as you can deploy the thing. At least you avoid the embarrassing moment on a PC when you Alt-Tab between screens (to check e-mail, BB posts, maybe write a couple of lines of essay....) to hear 900 Cr go bye-bye, Alt-Tab back to find you've murdered a Viper and are now a Fugitive....julyy wrote:I have to press the numerkey 9 to release the energy bomb. Allthouh I know that ascii 9 is TAB, but with TAB ntohing happens.
Worst you'll get is you'll either fire up your Cloaking Device (no big problem), or get the local market prices for your cargo (bit of a problem, but not fatal).

Trust me when I say that this is not a PC-specific issue.Captain Hesperus wrote:Well, it's not so much of a problem as long as you can deploy the thing. It is an age-old known bug--or better: a mystery--that the energy bomb on the Mac is tied to the number-9-key, despite the fact that the keyconfig.plist ties it to ASCII-9, which is the TAB-key.
Up to now I haven't come across any explanation for this, indeed, weird behaviour (all the other ASCII-definitions are just fine), so it remains a mystery.
If the answer isn't buried somewhere deep in the code of Oolite (perhaps in that case you could dig it out, Ahruman), I guess it must be buried somewhere deep in OS X and/or the Mac's key-handling.

But it’s Tab on my Mac.Commander McLane wrote:It is an age-old known bug--or better: a mystery--that the energy bomb on the Mac is tied to the number-9-key, despite the fact that the keyconfig.plist ties it to ASCII-9, which is the TAB-key.
Highly unlikely.Commander McLane wrote:…I guess it must be buried somewhere deep in OS X and/or the Mac's key-handling.

I’ve just been going over the keys, so I can now reliably state that the reason for it probably not working is that it’s never checked. At all. So I’ve taken it out.
