3D modeling
I thought I'd have a go at 3D modeling to create an alternative missile, but even this simple design exceeds the 320 vertices. How is it possible to create anything realistic with such a low number of vertices?
Is that an AGM-65?
I have some missiles on the goover here that come safely under the vertices limit. Try cutting down the number of edges in the cylinder - I've used 16 because that was the default option in Wings3D, and that's proved to be more than enough. Any blockiness can be removed by turning on the smoothing option in the shipdata.plist, and it should leave you with enough polys to add fins and such.

Here's my NOT so smooth missile
I've added the lines below to the shipdata.plist, but it doesn't seem to of made any difference!

The picture you posted is being smoothed. Smoothing refers to using per-vertex lighting calculations, which causes the gradients you’re seeing.

Hi CaptKev
it looks like the polygons in your missile are all seperate from each other, have you checked that the vertexes are merged
wow, just noticed you've only had a days work using 3d software, what you've built there is really really impressive! i was at least a week trying to get my head around the top/front/side view thingy, i could never move vertexes 'behind' one another, everything came out flat

Oh, very good - any plans for it, or will it be offered up to the community? Although don't look at me (see my to do list in Outworld)
