w/ the expanding amount of OXPs, i was thinking of the cost of playing them. if i want to play a mission in G7, i'm going to have to fork out 6 Galactic Hyperdrives, which is a chunk of change to say the least. someone else releases a mission in G6, and again, multi jumps.
so, what if when you triggered the GH, it asked you which galaxy you wanted to go to? someone said they imagined the setup as being a 2x2x2 cube, so doesn't this seem logical, in that every square can be reached by one just horizontal/diagonal/vertical from the square you're in.

Think about that logically. If the eight galaxies (maps) were located in a 2x2x2 cube with each cube adjacent to the others, what would be the need for the galactic hyperdrive? Ships would just be able to travel around them normally!
My theory is that the 'maps' are actually located at very distant point of our own galaxy, maybe about 600-1000 light years distant from each other, and have only been found due to the existance of pre-existing 'wormholes' in hyperspace that link them together. The currents of these wormholes only allows travel one way through the tunnel, hence why one has to go full circle around the network.

This has been discussed before I'm pretty sure, I think you'll find that it is hard wired into Bell and Braben's code and cannot be changed, well not without a complete rewrite of the game.

You could always save a pilot in esch galaxy and go back and play different oxp's as they come out.
You may end up suffering from MPD (multiple personnality disorder) but hey, what the hell!

If removing galactic hyperdrives from the game would be one of the consequences of having the one-big-galaxy of Frontier, it wouldn't take me half a second to decide which I'd rather haveSelezen wrote:Think about that logically.
