As of 1.65, one is forced to go an unreasonable distance from torus stations (torus.oxp) before one can witchspace. In the screen shot below I'm on the planet's surface and I'm still not far enough away.
Maybe I should buy a mining laser and try digging a hole in the planet so I can put some more distance between me and that station.
Interestingly, non-player ships have no problems jumping nearby.

The bit where AI ships can jump close by strikes me as not-a-feature, though.

Thanks for that link. It appears that the participants of that thread simply thought the radius was somewhat bigger than expected. Now we're noticing something else, it's not a sphere. Instead it seems to be a cylinder projecting into the planet. I'm uncertain whether the zone projects out the planet's far side; I've tried it a couple of times but lining up is a challenge.Uncle Reno wrote:Hi. this came up in this thread and was written off as a "feature".
