Judging by Ian Bell's manual at http://www.elitehomepage.org/manual.htm, the alternative spellings of "maneuver" vs. "manoeuvre" and related terms seem to indicate that Ian's text was probably based on the 1988 Rainbird version of the Atari/Amiga Elite manual.
However, Ian's section on "NAVIGATION AND FLYING" > "NAVIGATION", par. 2, sentence 5 -- starting with "You will wish to lead; {...}" -- actually omits an entire line from the Telecomsoft version (not Rainbird) of the Atari/Amiga manual: p. 11, par. 2, line 8 - 10: "You will have to make decisions about how dangerous a life you wish to lead; {...}".
My question: does the Rainbird manual omit this line, or did Ian just miss it when he typed it up manually?
If anyone still has a hardcopy of the RAINBIRD version of the 1988 Atari/Amiga manual, would you, please, be so kind as to check, and let me know?
p. 11, par. 2, line 9... What does it say there?
Thanks.
Sincerely and faithfully

Re: 1988 RAINBIRD Atari/Amiga Elite Manual?
Steve (memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=3011), from https://frontierastro.co.uk/, emailed me.
"As for the manual, the line you mention below has the correct wording, no missing line. The rest of the manual is a copy of the Acornsoft version, but with screen grabs from the Amiga/ST versions and amended text to match."
The 1988 Rainbird Atari/Amiga manual, p. 11, par. 2, line 9 is not missing as in Ian Bell's webpage manual, which was, therefore, probably copied from the Atari/Amiga manual, and typed out by hand.
He also brought to my attention https://web.archive.org/web/20190607003 ... ary.co.uk/.
