Context, for those unaware: Australia has the most unaffordable housing in the world. Some people dispute this, and say things like, "Yes, except for my country." They are wrong. An example to demonstrate the current housing crisis in Australia:-
The most remote town in WA
I assert that Wyndham 6740 is the most remote town in Western Australia, based on it being 3100 km from Perth, the capital city, via the shortest road route. This town has occasional bursts of economic activity, but is in long-term decline, and has fewer than 1000 residents. It takes 33 hours to drive there from Perth, assuming one travels continuously, never having to stop for rest, fuel, etc. and follows the shortest, dusty, hot, boring, inland route [1]. Via the the more usual, coastal route, it is 3400 km, or 35 hours, distant [2]. Wyndham is also the hottest town in Australia, and is really only habitable five months of the year, due to the extreme heat.
The most remote house in WA
If you drive through the town, and continue several more kilometres, you will reach the last house at the end of town:-

This shack, with the rusty corrugated-iron/"tin"/corrugated-steel roof, is the most remote house in Western Australia, that lies within a townsite, and is not a rural homestead property. It was built in 1952, and was originally a corrugated metal roof above asbestos walls. I have no insight as to the current state of de-asbestos-ification. And, here it is, for sale:-

So, when some muppet says, "Well, you just have to be willing to move a bit further out from the CBD."

Housing Affordability - a whinge
"There are large, white swans, and there are small, black swans," he explained, "But there are no medium-sized swans, and there are no grey swans. The non-existence of grey swans mitigates against belief in Mr Darwin's theory."
