Repairing Naval Energy Units

Post by Killer Wolf »

Where can i do it? Got one from a salvage gang, lasted exactly one fight before showing as damaged [broken or combat damage i don't know]. I'm at a Tech 12 but it's not offered. if i can't repair it how do i remove it?

TIA

Check that the planet's tech level is 13 or higher. The tech level for the NEU in equipment.plist is listed as 13, which is 14 in-game. You need to find a tech level 13 planet or higher to get the repair option.

If this NEU has been awarded by script and not acquired as expected by the game, make sure that the mission variable mission_thargplans is set to MISSION_COMPLETE, otherwise you are not allowed to repair it.

The other possibility is to invest in Thargoid's repair bots!

Issues - the bots choose which of your bust bits of equipment they will repair first, - and more complex equipment can take several tries before they get it right!

maybe should've tried that - i zapped my extra energy unit :-/
there was an entry saying "naval energy unit damaged" and nothing else about NEUs so i just zapped it, all ran fine, but wehn i docked back at my TL12 i noticed a standard EEU was for sale - and mine was missing off the manifest :-/
note to self - never buy equipment from salvagers again. 40k lost.

Not quite. Do buy equipment from salvagers, but expect it to go wrong and to need fixing. And with repair bots it is a cheaper fix than at a space station.

The Repair bots add on is good. It could do with tweaking, but would need an expert in Javascript to do it.

to be honest, i'd only buy equipment from salvagers if it's something i can't get normally - in combat, i'd rather pay extra and not have the item randomly break. the NEU is the only thing i've bought, and on reflection i won't get another because if you can just buy it, it negates any sense of achievement and reward from the mission.

One thing I buy from the salvagers is a Galactic Hyperdrive, which I use immediately.
...don't give it time to break, and it's a 1-shot item anyway.

Like it!
