Ships don’t have armour in the normal sense. When shields are down, damage is done to the main energy banks (right hand side of the HUD). When these are empty, you go ’splodey.

As per that, your energy runs out, your ship integrity field fails. Considering the ridiculously high G manouvers and speeds that these ships do physical structural integrity would just not be enough, hense the force fields holding it all together.

G's in space? That doesn't seem to make any sense. Since a G is the force that Earth's gravity gives, and since space doesn't have any gravity...but I wouldn't know exactly if you were being propelled in space, since I've never been in it (although I plan to).

You still get G forces, as you bank and turn your ship at high speeds you would get an artificial gravity effect in the opposite direction to the movement, like centrifugal forces generate artificial gravity within the inner circle of a space station. Lots of alternating directional movement would generate lots of stress forces throughout the ship. Still call it G forces afaik...

CWolf is correct; the terms “G forces” and “pulling Gs” in the context of flying refer to the combined effects of gravity and inertia effects. The term Gs is used because they’re measured in multiples of g, the local strength of gravity.

yeah I looked at NASA's website after posting that and read what it's like lifting off, they have about 3G's in the shuttle when they're out in space after the launch.
