i forget, how do you intentionally cause a witchspce miss-jump?

Just before the witchspace jump, hold down the down arrow on the keyboard (or the up arrow, or pull up/push down on the joystick if you're using one). That usually does it.
It is generally inadvisable to eject over the target you just bombed.
