planetinfo.plist "cloud_fraction" and "percent_cloud"

Post by phkb »

I don't think this is a bug so much, and it may be completely OK, but I thought I'd ask anyway, for clarity...

What's the difference between the "cloud_fraction" and the "percent_cloud" properites? I'm not sure what the goal of each should be, because in my mind they kind of sound the same. At the moment, in the current planetinfo.plist, only Lave has both properties, in all other cases only "cloud_fraction" is set, and Lave only got the additional property recently (commit 65f9d70).

Edit: Actually, same dealio with "land_fraction" and "percent_land". Difference, anyone?

Not sure, to be honest. I just added percent_cloud to Lave because it just worked and did not think too much about it. When I get a chance, I'll try to see what exactly the code does with cloud_fraction and in what way it may be different to the percent_cloud property.
