Can you suggest a Mac OSX compatible USB Joystick?

Post by another_dave_b »

Just come across Oolite, played Elite on a BBC way back when.

I'm finding combat using keyboard buttons a bit tricky and I'd like to jet a USB joystick controller to help.

Can you suggest a USB joystick for use with Mac OS 10.3.9 ?

I use a Macally iStick, it's excellent, with 2 programmable fire, throttle, top-hat controller for views, and a couple of extra buttons for lock/cycling targets...
...or the Wingman Attack II, that's nice also, more buttons, but no top-hat controller. 8)
Everyone tends to have their favourite. The iStick is very solidly built, but it needs a fair amount of desk space - tends to stay where it's put, which is good!
N.B.
To be honest I actually prefer the keyboard, I still believe you can be much more precise in picking off enemies at range, but it does your wrists/elbows in when dog-fighting!
Very funny, Scotty, now beam down my clothes...

Any USB joystick ought to work with Mac OS X. However, Oolite does not have native joystick support in OS X.

Would I be able to map joystick > keys with the "Oolite key mapper" ?
