Found a railguns oxp on the wiki that is working, and flying around in a Caduceus seeing the turets going off in combat with some pirates and it gave me the thought of why not have the small railguns made into small turets for ships as an add on defensive weapon system.
How hard would this be to do?

My suggestion if it can be done is to create machine gun turets that can only be mounted to aft, port, and rear to any ship type.
Creativity is a gift, use it well.
