Renaming ships
Just wanted to get some opinions. I'm currently the maintainer of Ace/56's Cruzer, Hornet and Night Adder. But the first two ships are kind of out of place, not having a snake-related name. I think the Cruzer could be renamed the Boiga, and the Hornet as the Harlequin, but I don't know if it's a good idea or not. Thoughts?

Re: Renaming ships
There's plenty of non-snake ships out there.. I don't think it really matters too much.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

(The Cruzer is one my favourite ship models, up there with the Pitviper.)

Re: Renaming ships
Naming your ship is a personal thing.
1. Fly the beastie.
2. See how it makes you feel.
3. Repeat 1 and 2
A good name will come to you.

I didn't know you were a Pitviper fan.. have you made a custom texture for it, perchance?Wildeblood wrote:(The Cruzer is one my favourite ship models, up there with the Pitviper.)

I have only ever once made a custom texture. For KW's Cobra 6 where I added a few star decals around the nose to brighten it up. I adopted a customized version of the Cobra 6 as my player ship the same evening KW first revealed it, and never changed for the rest of the time I actually played Oolite.Diziet Sma wrote:I didn't know you were a Pitviper fan.. have you made a custom texture for it, perchance?Wildeblood wrote:(The Cruzer is one my favourite ship models, up there with the Pitviper.)
