Bug in docking tutorial scenario
Hi there!
I just found the game and flew through the tutorial until i got stuck in Lesson 9, where you have to approach a planet and dock at a space station.
While i headed to the planet there was this trading ship. i accidently fired a missile at it and got blasted by the cops. I respawned out in space where Lesson 9 began and headed directly to the space station. But my criminal record wasn't reset, so they denied docking and sent the cops after me. ship destroyed, again respawning where lesson 9 begins.
So i wasn't able to accomplish the tutorial.
Then i thought like: "Yeah, another lesson learned... when you have no fuel to travel somewhere else, don't mess with the ppl around!" and I thought this should have been remarked in the tutorial after the cops killed you. ^^
(I played Oolite 1.80 on Windows 8.1 x64)

Re: Bug in docking tutorial scenario
Welcome to the forums, Winterfox. I didn't think of that case at all in the tutorial ... and neither did any of the testers. Thank you for reporting it.
The next Oolite version will reset your bounty to zero if you get killed or otherwise restart a section. We're too close to the release to make more significant changes but I agree that some more specific messages if you manage to get a bounty during the tutorial would be a good thing to look at for future versions.

Thanks for the warm welcome and... cool, i found a bug!
There is another thing with flags that seem to not reset.
I was hesitating to put up another Topic, because I don't know if it's a bug or an intended rule:
As for my first day as trader i played it safe by just bouncing between the two planets "Diso" and "Leesti".
I admit, i have had some slaves or narcotics loaded one time or the other...
The last time there were only computers in hold, but when docking at space station i got fined again.
Do I get fined now every time i dock at this two space stations or did the game forgot to remove the flag that causes me to be fined after i paid the last fine?
Rule or Bug here?
(Still Windows 8.1, haven't tried an OXP yet)

Re: Bug in docking tutorial scenario
... maybe i get fined just for my legal status as an "offender"?
i realized i get the message to be fined by a cop only if there is one in the area and i activate my ident system.
Did i get it right? Turning the option "docking clearance protocoll: on" i have to manually identify myself and request docking?
I'm sorry! When i played Elite on my Amiga500 i was a small kid and since I could only read German i had no clue what the game was all about anyway. just cruizing around in space and shooting things

Yes to both! Your offender status will drop rapidly every time you make a hyperspace jump - maybe two or three jumps to clear it. If you ever find that docking is denied due to your legal status, seek out rock hermits - they have fuel for sale (though rather expensive), and I think you can save at them these days.Winterfox wrote:i get fined just for my legal status as an "offender"? I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Bug in docking tutorial scenario
If docking protocol is on, then yes, you need to request permission to dock from the station, be put in a queue if necessary and dock when you are given an approach slot (duration of slot is 2 minutes). Docking without permission will result in a fine up to 5000 credits. This is indepndent of your legal status. In the soon to be released 1.82 version, this protocol is enabled by default. More information about it can be found here.
However, you are right in that when you are an offender, fines may be imposed on docking. Keeping away from trouble and illegal activity for a while will result in your record becoming clean again.

Thank you guys!
That clears me up.
Thought that i only can be fined when i have illegal goods on board.
The cops irritated me by saying that they scanned me and detected someting illegal... or something

Docking with contraband aboard is legal, so if your legal status is clean, you'll be able to dock unmolested - but launching with contraband aboard is strictly illegal.

Well, we wouldn't want to bankrupt a Jameson on his first parking ticket, would we? If you look at the wiki page I linked earlier, you will see all the details about it. Anyway, the actual fine is 5% of the commander's balance at the time of offence, with a ceiling of 5000Cr.Winterfox wrote:Just a minute ago I forgot about it... but the fine was 0.9 Cr. ???
