Random Questions
During the holidays I was playing Oolite non-stop (because what else is there to do?), and it made me think a bit (uh-oh!). I have a few questions I'd like answered if that's alright. What is the difference between a Fer-de-Lance 3G+(t) and a Fer-de-Lance 3G+(t) (ex-police)? I don't think there is any difference at all, unless maybe the ex-police comes with more equipment?
If you have offender or fugitive status and people come after you like bounty hunters, the police or regular civilians, are you justified by shooting back at them or will your bounty get higher? Technically speaking I think it should because I'm the "bad guy" here, so attacking them back should raise my bounty. On the other hand, people are attacking me so it should be justifiable that I attack back.
Anyone care to enlighten me???

Re: Random Questions
You're perfectly within your rights to shoot-up bounty-hunters - just don't let the Feds see you doing it.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Random Questions
Thanks, Cody. Also, I was wondering about the Explorer's Club OXP. How do you know which worlds are the "Lost Worlds" or any other type? Can you tell which worlds you have to visit in order to complete a milestone, or do you just have to visit all the worlds?

Re: Random Questions
Another word on the subject of bounty: you can reduce your bounty a little by helping the Feds - but that can be dangerous!

Re: Random Questions
There are a couple of OXPs which will reveal the meaning of some of those - or use the PDF vector maps.Huntress wrote:How do you know which worlds are the "Lost Worlds" or any other type?

Re: Random Questions
The vector maps are excellent - and this tool is very handy too.

Re: Random Questions
The Old Worlds are the cluster around Lave, where a new game starts. The Famous Planets were the ones textured by the OXP of that name before we all changed to Povray Planets for textures. (I wondered whether to remove that particular milestone.) The Lost Worlds, Prodigal Suns, Rift Worlds & Oresrati are the isolated systems one can't reach in normal game-play. If you've visited them you'll doubtless be aware of it.Huntress wrote:I was wondering about the Explorer's Club OXP. How do you know which worlds are the "Lost Worlds" or any other type? Notes:-
Apostrophe after the s; it wouldn't be much of a club with only one member.
Captain Okti, Captain Murphy's beta-tester, visited all 2048 systems in one day. He also made several OXPs with missions to visit the "unreachable" systems.
I'll entertain suggestions for new or altered milestones if anyone has any.
Murphy's request for better background images for the mission screens, made four years ago, remains in effect. The current image was only ever intended as a temporary stand-in.

One is too broad-minded if one thinks that's normal.Cody wrote:One can reach the Rift Worlds in normal gameplay!Wildeblood wrote:The Lost Worlds, Prodigal Suns, Rift Worlds & Oresrati are the isolated systems one can't reach in normal game-play.

Re: Random Questions
Should low-bounty offenders be attacking you if you're a higher bounty fugitive (250 Cr)? If this is normal I might decide to give up my life of crime because those little < insert curse of choice here > are even worse than boyracers.

Re: Random Questions
Maybe. Depends why they're an offender, why you're an offender, and whether your bounty was for crimes in the local area.Huntress wrote:Should low-bounty offenders be attacking you if you're a higher bounty fugitive (250 Cr)?

Re: Random Questions
Whilst I shot at everything that is smaller than a station, I try to keep a clean record. I find this much easier to handle. You have trouble with GalCop police, with bounty hunters etc. if you are not clean. Last not least, being one of the random hits bounty hunteres requires you to be clean. You get no job otherwise and approaching a Space Bar can be your end.Huntress wrote:Should low-bounty offenders be attacking you if you're a higher bounty fugitive (250 Cr)? Just keep your eyes open for any GalCop ships around and stop pirating peaceful traders in time!
If you went deep into slaves and narcotics tradings, I'd say, you shall live with the trouble

Tell me about it. After being attacked by at least five different ships at the same time while approaching a Space Bar, I've learnt my lesson.ralph_hh wrote:Last not least, being one of the random hits bounty hunteres requires you to be clean.
