Beacon woes
Greetings. Been over a year (likely 2) since I've played Oolite. I thought I remembered the basic docking. Find flashing green on radar, fly to the beacon, spin and head toward docking bay on station. Only, I'm not finding the beacon anymore. They seem to be absent. I'm using the newest version. I do use the Your ad here mod. Anyone able to help me sort this?

Re: Beacon woes
Welcome back! You're running Oolite 1.80, yes? Anything odd in the log?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Beacon woes
If the buoy is missing occasionally then maybe collided with a ship and destroyed. In this case the [wiki]BuoyRepair[/wiki] OXP is the solution. Meantime you can fly to the statiton, turn to the center of the planet (see on your compass) and go to 3/4 altitude before docking - this is the place where the buoy should stay.
Re: Beacon woes
Ah, thank you. A shame there's no update to the old auto docking module. I dug that one. I do like the plugin manager integration in this new release however. Very cool.

Re: Beacon woes
Delightful Docking is still there, if that's what you mean.
Re: Beacon woes
The old one was a module that you could get to basically auto-dock upon getting close enough. Is that what this one does? I also noticed the texture packs are all in the old format. Any out for the current build?

Re: Beacon woes
You mean insta-dock? If you have docking computers, shift+c does that.bacontube wrote:The old one was a module that you could get to basically auto-dock upon getting close enough.

Re: Beacon woes
If you bought Docking Computers then you can press "c" for normal or "shift+c" for instant dock but in the second case your game time will be forwarded by 20 minutes.bacontube wrote:The old one was a module that you could get to basically auto-dock upon getting close enough. The old .oxp format is still usable in the AddOns directory.
Re: Beacon woes
Thank you friend. So oxp's still work? They just don't show in the manager?Norby wrote:If you bought Docking Computers then you can press "c" for normal or "shift+c" for instant dock but in the second case your game time will be forwarded by 20 minutes.bacontube wrote:The old one was a module that you could get to basically auto-dock upon getting close enough. Re: Beacon woes
You may need to reinstall any OXP that is not in the manager. Version 8.0 tends to clean out the add-on folder.
Re: Beacon woes
Thank you all for the help w/ this stuff. A fun side note, I'm actually going to try doing a new radiopack for Hyper-radio again once I get up to speed. Perhaps a few.

Re: Beacon woes
That is correct. Also, you should install cim's Shipset Compatibility (available via the manager) if you use any of the old shipset OXPs.bacontube wrote:So oxp's still work? They just don't show in the manager?
Oh, and welcome

Re: Beacon woes
Have to correct this one. Firstly I assume that 8.0 means Oolite 1.80. Secondly Oolite does not clean out AddOns folder. Expansions work from AddOns where they can be manually installed and ManagedAddOns which holds the expansions downloaded through the manager. Oolite can remove downloaded expansions from ManagedAddOns, it does not touch expansions inside AddOns.Sundiver wrote:You may need to reinstall any OXP that is not in the manager. Re: Beacon woes
Specially for that reason the [wiki]BuoyRepair[/wiki].oxp is written. The galactic repair facility will detect the missing buoy and replaces it by launching a tugger with a replacement buoy from the local main station.bacontube wrote:Only, I'm not finding the beacon anymore. They seem to be absent.
