Now where have I seen that name before
Lately (in RL) I've been travelling to multiple businesses, and as a result, I've been coming in contact with many people.
Walking into a new customer's office today I saw a name plate outside a manager's office. The name looked familiar but I couldn't place it.
I thought it must have been the name of someone I worked with - that would be why it was familiar.
Walking past that office to go in and out, the name kept nagging at me. It just didn't feel like the name of someone I've physically met. Why was it so familiar?
Then it hit me...

That's pretty cool.. an ancestor, no doubt..

Spooky. If she is cross, angry, with short brown hair I suggest backing away quickly.
I got contacted by 'a' Rebecca Weston about 3 years ago after she (a lady in Germany somewhere) found her name in my book. It was very strange seeing that in my inbox with the subject line "Now, about Status Quo..."
Cheers,
Drew.

How strange it would be for anyone to purely date Rebecca Westerns. Even stranger when said Rebecca discovered this was so.

One of the more disturbing facts of making romantic overtures to fictional characters is, that in effect you have fallen for various fatty diverse chunks of the authors living brain. I'm not sure his wife will approve you know. She may have dibs.CommRLock78 wrote:I have a secret little crush on Rebecca .

But that still can't keep me from feeling that little crush for the fictional character, nonetheless (Sorry Drew ).

Are you aware she makes a brief (but pivotal) appearance in Elite: Reclamation?CommRLock78 wrote:But that still can't keep me from feeling that little crush for the fictional character, nonetheless (Sorry Drew ).

Thus validating all our characters and their wider stories in the process. Thank you Mr D. I knew you wouldn't let us down!
Now all I have to do is encapsulate the time line and explain the cats and everything will be hunky dory with oolite.

Re: Now where have I seen that name before
Drew did a fine job in that regard.. he managed to slip in at least half a dozen nods to Oolite and the community. Heck, I suspect that it was Drew's influence that got Kate Russell to put in a reference to "friendliest place this side of Riedquat" in Mostly Harmless.ClymAngus wrote:Thank you Mr D. Reminds me I need to have a chat with Selezen when all this Dangerous business has died down.
I don't really like to bother him at the moment, he is very busy.

Re: Now where have I seen that name before
No, I was not. I need to read that, too, methinks. I haven't read any long fiction since The Oolite Saga, although I have thought a bit more about Commander R. Lock's backstory, which is rooted in northeast of Galaxy 1 (Ededleen and Inines).Diziet Sma wrote:Are you aware she makes a brief (but pivotal) appearance in Elite: Reclamation?
