Unusual combat strategy
I was on my way to an auction at Teorge, I had to fly to a dangerous system nearby loaded with computers to get there. I defeated about 4 pirates, with the loss of 14tn computers. Got a bit of bounty for killing the pirates and a captured escape pod, but I was nearly dead. There was one final Fer-de-lance to contend with. I shut down my engines, planning to let him kill me ( to go for a game save reload) when suddenly instead of firing multiple shots at me, when I had taken evasive action. He only fired 1 shot sporadically. He headed straight for me, let him close to 2000m then took him out with my military laser. Maybe he was a rookie pilot who had not graduated at the Lave Academy. Wondered if anyone else has tried a similar 'play dead' strategy? Anyway 3 pirates later I was dead.

<grins> Perhaps the Ferdie was trying to make you eject? A while back, playing dead sometimes bamboozled bandits - but that was fixed.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Laser overheated on the Ferdie? Seems like the most likely scenario.
