I'm now Elite! Well, it happened a couple of weeks ago and I've not been around here since - been trying to do something more useful with the evenings
Traded in my Python ET Special for a Scimitar, spent a fortune on upgrades and did a few sorties with the Navy Reserves for the last big push.
In the pic linked above, we've just repelled a shedload of Thargoids. I reckon there's enough robot fighters on that scanner to get a fresh-faced Jameson from harmless to poor in one go.
I recently made it to Deadly (which is significantly better than when I played Elite the first time on my BBB Model B when I only made it to Competent).
I am approaching the point when I have a big decision to make (uninstalling the game) - I play it too much but this hasn't mattered for the last 6 weeks as I have been working out my notice with relatively little to do. Start a new job next week though and really don't need the distraction!!! Elite for me is a very distant goal...
Congrats again!!

Fat bottomed girls, You make the rockin' world go round!
Congratulations! It's traditional, by the way, for newly Elite pilots to buy everyone a drink ... make mine an Evil Juice, no umbrella thanks.
Cheers all.
<Looks at bank balance, looks around bar> I think I can stand a round - Barkeep! One naked Evil Juice for the incorporeal one, pint of Olde Bugblood for me and whatever everyone else is having, on my tab please.
That reminds me of a joke:
Three logicians go into a bar; the barkeeper comes over and asks "can I get you three something to drink?" One of the logicians replies "I don't know". Barkeep looks to the other two, and one of them says "I don't know". With a hint of bemused desperation he looks inquiringly to the third logician who immediately answers "yes!".
I had to think about that one, but I got it in the end.
Hey! Nice to know that Ranthe isn't the only 'Conda-jockey here..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Yeh baby!! I'm to old for all that dogfighting shenanigans. An evenings Oolite for me now is feet up on the desk, beer within arms reach and dodgy '70s rock playing in the background. An Anaconda is the perfect ship for that.

<chortles> I can't get my feet up on the desk, and I'm teetotal these days - but I do have a lot of '70s rock playing.
I have a soft-spot for Silent Running - a gem of a movie!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
