Joystick Setup
I am running Oolite 1.77 on a Ultimate Win7 pc.
I have a Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold USB joystick.
In the joystick config page I choose "u" to unset, Roll
and "u" to unset Pitch, now joystick does not work:(
Enter and escape do not seem to work, well to choose the unset things I changed.
How do I set the roll and pitch again?
The keyboard keys work.

Re: Joystick Setup
Go to Joystick Configuration screen, select the Roll or the Pitch row, press Enter. Now move the joystick to the direction representing the axis you want to set (i.e. up or down for pitch, left or right for roll) and that should be all.
Re: Joystick Setup
Nope does not work.
I move joystick to one side for roll then I press escape to set.
I still have a "-" in assigned to.
Same happens when I try to set pitch.
Escape is the set key?

Re: Joystick Setup
Roll it to both sides, friend.
Got all turned around, lost my nav connection... Where am I now?
Re: Joystick Setup
Same result.
"Assigned to" stays at a dash.
So escape is the set key?

Enter is the set key.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Joystick Setup
I tried pressing Enter and Escape, I was unable to assign the pitch and roll axises.
So I saved my saved games and I deleted the Oolite folder.
I then reinstalled Oolite and it works ok:)
However I guess maybe it's my joystick is old, Saitek have no new drivers for it, they say it's too old:(
I have ordered a new Joystick "Logitech Extreme 3D Pro".
It arrives today Tuesday (from Newgg:) ).

Re: Joystick Setup
I doubt it was because your Saitek Cyborg 3D is "too old".. My Saitek Cyborg Evo runs beautifully.. going by the symptoms and the fix you described, it sounds more like the GNUstep installation (the part of Oolite that handles the joystick) got accidentally borked somehow.. and reinstalling it fixed things.Bryan wrote:I tried pressing Enter and Escape, I was unable to assign the pitch and roll axises.

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
Re: Joystick Setup
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro arrived.
I unplugged Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold, plugged in the EXtreme.
Then started Oolite and it assigns the joystick roll and pitch correctly.
Oldstick would not detect the roll and pitch axises:(

Re: Joystick Setup
Cool! I've had one of those for three months now (got it at a good price too), and I really like it. For a budget 'stick, it's excellent.Bryan wrote:Logitech Extreme 3D Pro arrived.
It does have a much larger footprint than my old Logitech Attack 3, though - and I somehow doubt it'll be quite as durable.
