Out of retirement Commander questions on new fangled Oolite

Post by Commander Uzi »

Greetings all,

Not a noob to Elite, played in my youth some 30+ years ago on an Amiga & retiring as Deadly to spend some time with life & love.

I have been called up to dust off the old Cobra (and myself) again after finding this new fangled Oolite. Makes me feel like a young gun again 8)

So first off trying to get the hang of these OXP's & bringing myself up to date with it all I added BGS & get this on launch each time:

BGS - M - Check your latest log

How do you do that?

OK lots more to ask but that will do to start.

The file should be in <oolite install directory>/oolite.app/Logs under Windows. Open it with your text editor of choice.

The OXP will have left a message in the log, probably that you don't have an up to date Cabal Commons OXP library installed and that you should do so (download it here).

Heh.. wait until you've tried loitering in the Station Aegis for an hour or so, looking to hitch a lift to a particular system, through somebody's wormhole..

If I could just figure out which ship Mr "No worries" was aboard, I'd vape him! :x
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

He ain't aboard a ship! The poor guy is caught in a trans-dimensional time-loop - all we get is his voice, but he seems to be okay!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Old commander, new to Oolite, weird problem.

Post by nr.edge »

I'm also not new to Elite, but I'm having a problem with space stations. I travel to other systems, approach a planet, and there is no orbital station. The only ones I can find are Dodos and rock hermits - no Coriolis stations or anything else! It's really crimping my enjoyment of the game. I'll approach close to a planet and I'll get a compass reading, approach it and there's nothing but empty space. :|

Maybe you could start a Kickstarter Campaign to found your £4500 pledge. 8)
Thanks to Gimi, I got an eBook in my inbox tonight (31st May 2014 - Release of Elite Reclamation)!

Old post, I know, but what the heck.

It's weird how it sounds like a couple of them say "no worries". If you reverse the recording, you can hear what they actually are saying (boring ATC chatter).

So "zero one" becomes "no worries"..

Thanks for that.. you gave me an entertaining 20 minutes, and what I needed to know in order to create some extra chatter files for a bit more variety.. 8)
