Guard your love for food blenders, human poet-cat!
I have to say, the death phrases of Thargoid motherships are cracking me up. I've just spent a while searching for a list of such, even trawling through the resources that are text-accessible in the Oolite package (Mac)—all to no avail.
It doesn't look like they're generated on the fly, but does look as if they're hard-coded. There was one about a disco cat I'd really like to find. Potentially, I guess, if they were usefully in a file somewhere then the other comms you receive might be in there too. If nobody knows of such a list then I might have to start one.
And spend a lot of time in witchspace...

They are created with the following part from descriptions.plist
As you see, still cryptic, so a text search probably did not show them
Code: Select all
"thargoid_curses" =
(
"Guard your [4], human [18]-[31]!",
"Eat [24], [5]!",
"We’ll use your [20] [27] for our [33]!",
"%R! %R! %R!"
);
UPS-Courier & DeepSpacePirates & others at the box and some older versions

Ah! That's brilliant, thanks!
Wow, that must set some kind of record for answering a reasonably non-trivial question.

I've always wanted a list of those.. <sighs wistfully>
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

So an over-tweaker might be able to extend those ?Eric Walch wrote:They are created with the following part from descriptions.plistAs you see, still cryptic, so a text search probably did not show themCode: Select all

<Bump> I've been really enjoying the Thargoid smack talking lately as well - "We'll use your weird icebergs for our soup!"

Of course there can be too much of a good thing. Here is a quick test oxp which adds more curses and will say one to the console every 5 seconds.

(Minor tyop in your descriptions.plist: trecherous should be treacherous, even with Thargoid spelling )

Well - it makes it simple to test the changes without having to spawn thargoids, and if you install it briefly and read a few - post back when you stop laughingMad Dan Eccles wrote:Dear God, why??
