Adding ships etc

Post by tsugi »

Hi there,

What a joy to find Oolite! I played Elite on the Spectrum (spent more time loading cassettes than playing) and on the Atari 1040. Went Mac and - nothing. Now it's great. My question is - I love all the extras you folks have put in, and I've downloaded ship add-ons. There are no read-me files as to what to do with them or where they go. So - what do I do with them and where do they go?

Thanks again for a great game that brings back mis-spent nights of studentdom, some twenty-odd years ago!
Cheers,

t

Tsugi, welcome,

In your Oolite folder in the Finder there is a folder called "AddOns". Place any OXP's (the downloads, ships, missions, etc.) in it, then Open Oolite and play. enjoy!

Depends on what system you run... OS X, you just put the oxps in the AddOns folder of your Oolite map, for the other systems, see the Elite Wiki: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/OXP

(I see there's no instructions for Windows...yet)

(Edit: you beat me to it, and it was obviously too much info for a fellow Mac user, heh)

No instructions for Windows? But...not...good grief.

<clicky clicky>

Right. There are Windows instructions now, for both variants.
