I recently bought a "Jump Planner" that seems to be part of the Long Range Scanner oxp.
It says that the JP can transport me without fuel to "remote systems" and I read somewhere here it can be activated through the long range scanner with shift-N and then N.
No such luck. I am playing with the recent trunk version ... so how do I activate this item?

At the long-range chart, pick your system and hit F5, then Target System Info.
Got all turned around, lost my nav connection... Where am I now?
