Weird behavior - cloaked mining never gets anything

Post by Switeck »

If your ship is cloaked when it scores the killing shot (with a laser anyway) on an asteroid or boulder, there is nothing left behind.

I guess the universe assumes nobody's looking right then, (killed by is always null?) so Schrodinger's Cat is always dead.

Same for me (1.76.1).

Shooting an asteroid with a mining laser while cloaked results in zero boulders.

As far as bugs-or-features (depending on who you ask) go, it's pretty harmless behavior.

I simply find it odd and guess it's related to Oolite needing to know who/what destroyed the asteroid or boulder to determine if it should shatter into parts or completely disappear.

This is useful information to me as I like to eliminate asteroids completely, under certain circumstances. Problem is, my cloaking device has been broken for ever so long.

Cloak Repair OXP?
I am in the know about your OXP and may install it when I return to chart 1.

Is guess this is attention seeking behaviour?

As you'd clearly prefer not to be ignored or you'd have fixed your cloak already! *grin*

I'm not sure what you mean. I cannot use Smivs Cloak Repair OXP at present. I am in Galaxy 8, which doesn't have any TL 15 planets; one of the prerequisites of said OXP.

Then perhaps try my Repair Bots. They can fix a cloak, although it may take a few attempts at such a complex gizmo. Or the repair system will keep on at it until it succeeds.

At last there is something that makes the Level 15 systems special. :D

I used to have your Repair System and it works great. Then I made a choice to fly with a leaner ship.

Perhaps as I mentioned before in the customshields viewtopic, maybe having whom is null for the player when cloaked isn't such a good idea. I worked around it for the customshieldsv0.83 oxp.
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

Exactly like that... *smirk*

... guilty as charged...

Although in my defence the wiki said "These commanders have put together a list:" but these appeared to be only one, commander looking a little lonely, so I thought I would join in as an act of community spiritedness...

ok... whatever works (or in this case doesn't) for you... I prefer less lean, more repair system personally...
