Fortune Cookies

Post by CommRLock78 »

A little

Code: Select all

$ fortune
typed in the terminal gives you a "fortune cookie" ('fortune-mod' is the package name, and may need to be installed along with the data file - but small packages, anyway, that don't gobble up disk space).

I thought these were fun:
Cheer Up! Things are getting worse at a slower rate.
You will pioneer the first Martian colony.
There are more things in heaven and
earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in
your philosophy.

Wm. Shakespeare, "Hamlet"
The very ink with which all history is
written is merely fluid prejudice.

Mark Twain
Steady movement is more important than
speed, much of the time. So long as
there is a regular progression of
stimuli to get your mental hooks into,
there is room for lateral movement.
Once this begins, its rate is a matter
of discretion.

Good point .... I don't usually need to enter the password, but youtube-dl wasn't working right (it is now though :D). Quite a good little command line tool for downloading videos of interest from more sites than just youtube - definitely worth checking out.

8) I'm sure you're not the only one around here to do something like that without checking. I know I have. Was some source code I posted on another board, I forgot to take out the IRC OP password.

 Classic - I think we were getting in the handwavium zone for "Hey, look, come hack our stuff - trouble free (we'll give you the password !!) !!"

Back to the fortunes - I thought the "LITE" translations were too hilarious. It's quite entertaining to have fortune cookies whenever a terminal is opened :D .

 I can't seem to find it (or is it an oxp idea?) (looked on the oxp page to no avail.).
Looks like it would provide the same class of entertainment as the terminal, with a bit of Oolite humor mixed in - sounds like a great OXP :D !

Sorry, used to minimal information ideas. Yes, it is an idea. Along with the Friend-or-Foe and Crew OXP ideas I have.

…and you're telling us only now?

EDIT:

Well, who reads the documentation anyway? :)
