Whats with the animated insect avatars?

Post by JazHaz »

First one I saw was Okti's fly. First I thought it was a real fly, then when I couldn't brush it off, I thought my PC had a virus!

Now I see a couple of others (Smivs's ladybird, and FatLeaf's spider).

Who finds them annoying?

All animated avatars are somewhat distracting, whether they be insects or anything else... but they're okay.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I've installed 'adblock' also on Safari. Never thought of using it against avatars, but its indeed a good bug killer. :D

Animated avatars are okay. The only thing that annoys me are some of my wife's TV programs which feature real people who can't get along with each other, and that is putting it mildly. She says, "That's reality". No wonder then why I prefer fantasy.

So does she. Is it cognitive dissonance or is she really unaware those 'reality TV' shows are scripted and use aspiring actors?

What now passes as reality TV is, of course, far from real. Such shows are as scripted and choreographed as any drama. Their participants are scarcely real either. They are there because they want to be on the screen, have their 15 minutes of fame.

The one link I am desperate to find is the humiliating interview I heard with Esther Rantzen when she got caught out too for having scripted actors pretending to be guests. She squirmed and writhed and claimed it for was "the greater good" and the show got pulled.

Cool... so I'm not the only one to have ditched the one-eyed monster.

I'm glued pretty much 16/7 (8 hrs sleep et c) glued to that *other* one-eyed monster.

Actually, at the moment it's even dual screen, most of the time.
