Bugfix realease:- Due to an error in the shipdata.plist, this OXP was affecting all ballturrets. This has now been corrected in v1.1 which is now availaible for download.

Shock!
Smivs has made an Uber-ship! :o :o
Why? And what for?
Now as you know I don't particularly like uber-ships. They unbalance the game I love and to my mind ruin it. Just my opinion. The one 'uber-ship' I've made so far (the Contractor) is pretty OTT, and that is after it had been balanced and justified as best as I could in relation to the core game. I made it largely because I thought an uber-ship that had enough compromises that it sort of fits in would be a cool mount for bounty hunters and hit men, and would make for an interesting OXP. And to this end it has been quite successful.
So why this new one?
I was recently involved in yet another Uber Vs Balanced debate here, where the justification for the uberness was progressing technology. Now as we all know tech has been pretty stagnant in the Ooniverse for the last 300 years, with only marginal improvements. New ships like the Cobra 3 and Boa Class Cruiser are only slightly better than old models like the Python, so I can't personally accept a sudden massive jump in tech would just happen.
But it got me thinking.
Hundreds of years in the future things could well be different and if future tech somehow became available, just how Uber could a ship be, and what actually makes an uber-ship, anyway. Assuming anything within reason is possible, it should be small to make it a hard target, but it should still have a big hold, and should be as strong and as well armed and defended as possible. And of course it must be stupidly fast!
And that is what this OXP is all about. It's not meant to be taken seriously. It is my attempt to make the most uber, stupidest outrageous ship I could imagine. It is an exercise in excess. It's the 'Killit' of the ship world!
Many of you will hate it for existing - an equel number will probably love it. The player version will appeal to some of you for all the same reasons you love other uber-ships. The NPC version has been deliberately designed to be as completely over the top as possible, with only a couple of small compromises to stop it being able to kill you in a split second without you even knowing it's there....that wouldn't be fun at all. I hope and expect a that a top-notch Commander will thoroughly enjoy fighting it.
All the grisly details, pics and the preposterous back-story can be found on the Wiki page.

This OXP has been thoroughly tested, and completely disapproved of, by the Honourable Guild of Test Pilots!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Completely and utterly without question, by unanimous vote disapproved of! There should be a warning of the danger of bleeding eyes on the slightest glimpse of this monstrosity.

May all who fly this have warts!

It will be interesting to see how many downloads you actually get of this. I for one won't be downloading it.

Are you counting the downloads or the non-downloads?

It's too ugly... it looks like something out of King Koopa's R&D department!
You know those who, having been mugged and stabbed, fired, dog run over, house burned down, wife eloped with best friend, daughters becoming prostitutes and their countries invaded - still say that "all is well"?
I'm obviously not one of them.

I agree, it's way too ugly for me... I prefer elegant designs, for example the Boa Clipper, one of my favorite ships.
Another thing is I can't justify all that cargo space and missiles and energy for the size... it would probably have to be Python sized, at minimum.
At least the speed is believable...
(not downloading, but at least the wiki page gave my a good laugh  )

I haven't been able to play for a fair few weeks now (real life has unfortunately taken over at the moment), but when I can, I'm tempted to download it and have a dual - see how long I last! (And then remove it and return to a more sensible mix...)

It is on the inside, that's the beauty of the subspace portal....Think Tardis!

Brilliant BEST SHIP EVAH!

Can you script infinite missiles which launch automatically at anything within range?

I like.

Can you make it so that as soon as you fire one laser shot the target gets destroyed, even if it's not inside the reticle?
Kthxbye.

Very creative and undoubtedly a sarcastic remark at ubericity. Or is it? Has "the great pumpkin" fallen out of the patch?
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

Very funny, in a painfully obvious over-the-top sort of way. But, a painfully obvious over-the-top ship has been done once before. Anyone remember the "uber mark leet"?
