London meet up in Dec? Any more details?

Post by drew »

Post on the fiction thread reminded me that some hardy combateers are hoping to make a rendezvous during December. Any further details coming forth? Might be possible to schedule the launch of the final part of the Oolite Saga at the same time...

Worth a beer or six.

Cheers,

Drew.

I wish I could go, but it doesn't seem likely...
You know those who, having been mugged and stabbed, fired, dog run over, house burned down, wife eloped with best friend, daughters becoming prostitutes and their countries invaded - still say that "all is well"?
I'm obviously not one of them.

Interesting. Ryanair flights come out at about £80, hotel can be found for a reasonable price through work. Would allow shopping for X-mas presents as well. Maybe.

My calendar noted that I had set aside the 17th. Dec. for Oolite related meet-up-ery. So I'm still up for it.

It was designed to coincide with Nikos (A_C) being in town - I also have it down for the evening of the 17th Dec and I'm still planning on being there. (Last year was fab!)

I see the oolite irregulars are marching out for another battle with lord shot and his battalion of beer.
Will that cheeky little blighter ever learn? I think not! Time for another damn good thrashing, light plastering and a touch of the gin wobbles.

Hazzah!

According to my diary the 17th is a Saturday, which will likely rule me out of contention as my wife works on Saturday and I have the sproglets. :(

Friday night 16th I might be able to swing...

Cheers,

Drew.

Yes, loosing a Saturday so near to Crimbo might be an action that it is difficult to recover from......

Poo, that's my birthday and I've already got a night out planned.

Plus which I don't fancy travelling to/from/around London that close to Xmas.

Sorry. :-(

<Checks Outlook Calendar Properly>Indeed. I have the visit spanning the Friday and the Saturday (of Nikos) - so for me, a meeting on the Friday would mean organising a day off work to get to London at a sensible time (and travelling off-peak) [which is fine] or as you say, Saturday (making a day of it) as long as the family don't want to do anything the weekend before Christmas (first day of kid's Christmas break so to speak)

Too bad it's already the company christmas reception that same day, otherwise a christmas shopping trip to London would have been great! Maybe I could propose to have it earlier next year, e.g. around end of November?

This year's event is specifically tied to Another_Commander being in the UK, there's no reason not to have an event earlier next year - although not very "Christmassy" in November...

Christmas decorations will be up already. And if nothing else, I'm sure it will be quite "oolitey" ;-)

Ok, we are hearing a lot about the dates people CAN'T do. What about dates we can?
I've always found narrowing down infinitely more preferable to "date shooting".
