Hi all,
After dealing with some furballs in Erlaza (great place BTW!) I just noticed that one engine and one turret had been shot off.
While I do know of a workaround for this (i.e., fixing the 'subentities_status' string in the savegame), I'm puzzled that the game itself does not offer a repair facility for blown-off subentities.
Well, at least there's none that I'm aware of... am I missing on any stuff I should've read ?
And can someone tell me if the next Maintenance Overhaul would automagically take care of this ?
Cheers
In-game repair for blown-off subentities ?

When you next dock you should get offered a maintenance overhaul, which will restore them (for as price) if purchased.

Re: In-game repair for blown-off subentities ?
Pretty much all the subentities on a player ship shouldn't be frangible ... certainly not things like engines, anyway. Maybe functional subentities like turrets could be made destructible, but I'm not sure how you'd go about doing that and in any case you'd still get the anomaly that you'd have to wait for a maintenance overhaul before you could get them fixed.

It is also possible to restore sub-entities (en-mass, all or nothing on a given ship) by scripting.

Well, certainly not the FIRST dock after the 'amputation', as it would seem.Thargoid wrote:When you next dock you should get offered a maintenance overhaul, which will restore them (for as price) if purchased.
The fight where they were shot off happened in Erlaza space. I'm currently docked in Erlaza, where no Overhaul was offered. Perhaps the game will check for missing subentities after a SECOND jump-and-dock?
Or would it have to do with a current system's TL? Erlaza where I'm docked is 6, next I'll be proceeding to Onrira (14) where as you say the M.O. would take care of this. So it should happen at Onrira either because it's a higher TL world or because it's the second dock. Any thoughts ?
On a side note - does the M.O. price calculation takes into account an additional value for restoring one missing subentity ?
@Disembodied - thx for the input.
Thx a lot & Cheers

Yes it may well be dependent on TL. I was thinking that as I wrote the original answer.
And yes, restoring a sub-entity will put the cost up significantly quite often.
