The Shadowed Hand Cover Contest is here!
The rules are be similar to Drew's Mutabilis contest, you can view the original post by him at https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.ph ... ilis+cover. My rules will use his as a template, but things will be changed. So, here they are:
1. The following text is required somewhere on the page:
The Shadowed Hand
Set in the Oolite Universe
By Ryan Hoots
2. Dimension W 1650, H 2550 Pixels. .jpg, .bmp, .tif, .xcf, or .gif are acceptable, but .png is the recommended file format.
3. You must allow usage under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 license or similar.
4. Submit all entries by posting them in this thread, I will choose the best and do a vote. The vote will help me decide on the winner, but the ultimate choice is up to me.
5. Closing date for entries is October 13, 2011. The vote will be put up as soon as I have a group I like. The vote will run for a week, and then I will choose a winner based on my personal preferences and the vote.
6. You may enter multiple covers, but only one entry per person will make it into the vote.
Some suggestions for the cover:
(By the way, please use Smiv's shipset for the cover. It looks better. You can use whatever shipset you choose, though)
== SPOILER ALERT! PROCEED WITH CAUTION! ==
1. A Caduceus Omega, the Anguis Primus, and a Red Wyvern in Delta Formation with torus drive engaged, with or without three Caduceus Alphas in Delta Formation behind them.
2. A Thargoid Battle Fleet nearing Tianve, with or without the Anguis Primus and Caduceus Omega nearby.
3. The Anguis Primus near the Tianve Pulsar
4. (spoiler alert) Thargoids battle a few Caddies, one is an Omega, the Anguis and Wyvern are in the fight.
5. The Anguis Primus fighting Thargoids in interstellar space.
6. A Siamese kitten (look at my avatar) at the controls of the Caduceus Omega
7. Anjun Liu at the controls of the Anguis Primus. She has long brown hair, and green eyes, She is twelve, and she's not a very good pilot.
8. A Chopped Cobra, rainbow texture, in space near a planet, Isrema in G4. Optionally you can have an escape pod about fifteen meters in front of the gun mount...
I am looking forward to seeing your creativity!

The contest is OPEN!
Closing date is September 13, 2011, so get your covers in via PM by then. As noted in the above post, I can't wait to see what you make!

Re: The Shadowed Hand Cover Contest
Other than YAH ads, I have no artistic talents, so I'm not entering, but I was curious why you want entries via PM rather than here on the board, so we can all enjoy the creativity of our fellow board members (not that they can't post them on the board too...)

Re: The Shadowed Hand Cover Contest
PM would be easiest to organize entries, but posting them in here would work just as well. Thanks, Daddy Hoggy. Re: The Shadowed Hand Cover Contest
Given this:
I suspect another problem - I think PMs have the same limitations as main board posts i.e. images are 1000x800 max, which means entrants would have to post links to the files themselves and not put them in tags (plus the BB can't display .xcf files)Dimension W 1650, H 2550 Pixels. .jpg, .bmp, .tif, .xcf, or .gif are acceptable, but .png is the recommended file format.

I just put xcf there because I can open it (I want to have as many possible formats as I can).DaddyHoggy wrote:Given this:

Maybe they should post links to the image or a small version...

I'm behind... but I think I should be done in early November. So, I'm officially moving the contest deadline to match. It's october 13, now.

Re: The Shadowed Hand Cover Contest
It is for the E-book, primarily. But I may publish it somewhere if I can.Killer Wolf wrote:what exactly is this a cover for? are you publishing it somewhere?
