Thanks for being a nice, friendly board.

Post by RyanHoots »

I would like to thank everyone for being friendly and kind on this board. Every time I ask a question, I get a helpful answer. I am working on understanding OXPing, and thanks to you I actually understand Java now. :)

That's highly unlikely. Or did you have a private conversation about Java with somebody, which was completely unrelated to Oolite?

Yeah, I really just know what it looks like and use it for OXPing, but it's the most I know about any programming language (unless HTML and XML count as programming languages, but I think not because you can't write programs with them).

Psst ... no ... Java and JavaScript are two different things ... we are a nice friendly board but we can be picky! ;)

You're several steps forward on some people here *cough* to whom JavaScript means as much as Javanese script. Although the latter is prettier than the former. It could be used in the game as an alien script as part of a monstrously complicated in-joke ...

Glad you're finding us a friendly bunch...it is sort of our trademark I think. Don't worry about the Java/javascript thing...it confuses loads of people, specially those in Java (the country) presumably!
Anyone with such a cute avatar is more than welcome here. :)

Cute? From which species point of view are you determining cuteness? I see nothing cute in its Steely blue gaze...

We Cucurbita can't resist anything that looks remotely like a kitten. It was hard-coded into our genome when the Felines first domesticated us. I can't speak for the Corvidae of course.

And while we're being nitpicky, let me just add that Java is not a country. The island of Java is part of Indonesia.

And being even more nitpicky, the country of Java is part of the State or Nation of Indonesia.
Extracts from Dictionary.com - country
the territory of a nation.
a territory distinguished by its people, culture, language, geography, etc
