Yeah, it is a bit worrying, hopefully he's just gone off on a massive summer holiday or something.

edit: As Dizzy's site seems to be Offline at the moment, you can grab the latest dizzy-all-in-1 oxp from here as a 4 part 'spanning zip archive'
http://www.box.net/shared/z925ssjfum it's missing a few of the latest ships though, the hermit & alloys ones i think
Thanks, I updated your Wiki page accordingly.

Hey - remember that fdl suggestion I had? I um, rethought it ...

This is just without the normalmapping.

I like that, it's got a bit of a feel of a stylised Cylon Raider about it. (in a good way!)

Cool F-D-L, resembles the original enough while still being Griff'ish. :)

Added an alternative version of the sidewinder
Image

In the folder at box There's also a version of the oxp that includes a player flyable version of the ship, "Griff_Sidewinder_alt_with_player_flyable_normalmapped.zip" - please note that this version only works with Trunk as it uses the new "hyperspace_motor" shipdata.plist key to prevent the ship making hyperspace jumps (thanks for including this Kaks, it works brilliantly!).
I've cobbled together a shipyard.plist for it without a lot of thought really, i set it's price to 55000 credits, and restricted it's buyable equipment to

Code: Select all

"EQ_DOCK_COMP",
"EQ_ECM",
"EQ_FUEL_INJECTION",
"EQ_WEAPON_PULSE_LASER",
"EQ_WEAPON_BEAM_LASER",
"EQ_WEAPON_MILITARY_LASER",
"EQ_SCANNER_SHOW_MISSILE_TARGET",
"EQ_MULTI_TARGET",
"EQ_ADVANCED_COMPASS"
As the sidewinder has no cargo space you can't trade, so would it be fun to allow the cargo bay expansion to be buyable with it adding one or 2 Tonnes of cargo space? If anyone has better pricing and equipment lists for this ship, let me know and i'll add them into the oxp.

Hey cool - ages ago I wrote a big list someplace about what I thought needed to be added and I find them being added after all the discussion. Maybe it just needed someone else to suggest it? More like - needed someone to decide to do it while I was fiddling about with little ship remakes.

For that FDL - I'll have a go at a griffesque normalmap for it. My feeling with this set is that the major advantage is in the varying paintjobs and the player-decals so I'll use one of the shaders that allows that - does the griff have some advise or warnings? I know I sent my last effort to you a while back when I got snowed under but I think this one is closer to the right style.

The fancy reflections look cool but don't add that much to the game. Where it a choice between enabling them or the colors and decals, I'd prefer the decals.

I've been thinking that the gaps are a little glaring if I use the griff set as the default ships. One way I can help is to provide place-holders which will look the part until an official ship can be made - distribute as a griff-placeholders oxp perhaps? Feelings?

In the meantime, feel free to mine any of my work as placeholders. The asteroids in the neolite set would work well, they are normalmapped and shaded though I think griff would like to do something fancier with the shader like how he made the pumpkins???

Another approach is to work on another classic oxp like the one that ended up in the neolite companion. It would be a long time before griff got to redoing anything off default I take it? Once I've got griffs shading down - should I post a howto so others can build to the same style?

... again, without the shaders. The Mussurana is marketed direct at the same group that like the FDL and dubbed "fdl killer" -- also shows what can be done with extending the style

Well, personally I think reflections are an integral part of the Griff look, so I wouldn't want that to change...

IMHO: great job so far, Griff. Steady as she goes! :D

oo nice work on the FDL simon! regarding the shaders, i'd probably go with the ones in the alternative sidewinder oxp i posted up recently, grab the version of the oxp with the player flyable ship in it, there's a few differences between NPC and player shaders, mainly in the 'alertlevel' flashing ship lights stuff and decals (player can have full colour decals, NPC's get single colour ones)

The oxp has a new home! Cmd. Cheyd has very kindly made some space available on deephorizonindustries, so the dizzy-all-in-1-bundle oxp has upped sticks and moved over there and is now busy unpacking tea chests trying to find the kettle.

edit: erk! the ' in dizzy's might be causing problems with me posting the link
edit2: I've removed the ' from the filename and updated the link

I can't seem to get the Deep Horizon Industries page up at all.
Is it just me?
