Apologies for the delay. Here are some more views of my re-modelled Fer-de-Lance (with modifications since last posting):
To some extent I'm aiming for a sort of 'Neolite II': a similarly free re-imagining loosely within the bounds of recognisability, but differrent from both SimonB's models and the more conservative shipsets.

Whatever it is, it'd definitely be welcome flying around in my game. Nice work
Thank you. An Addition OXZ of this 'Fer-delta-Lance' is now available; I'm afraid a proper release of what I'm provisionally calling the Delta Shipset is highly unlikely before next year due to Real Life intervening, but it is nice to know I'm not the only one who might want a shipset along these lines.
Well i wouldnt recognise this ship as a Fer de Lance but i certainly like the shape/texture of it.
Seems like a fast ship ( a rich pirate ) lasers on both tips ?
I can see what you mean with the Neolite II thing and I'm a big fan of Simon B's stuff so I'd be keen to see more.
I'd agree with cbr that it doesn't scream FdL at me, but then neither did Simon B's neolite version to many here so you're in good company.
The thing with the FdL shape is that it's really not that far away from a python (a ship with a very different image), so once you get rid of those 'boxey' sides of the model then it's sometimes hard to keep its identity. I'd say you've done a good job.
The Flying Snake: "Named after the flying snake, this ship has great maneuverability as well as good speeds and energy systems. Besides that it has five slots for rockets and place for cargo, about as much as the Cobra MK-III has. Of course it has its price and it can only be found in systems with higher tech-levels."
One ship more :
Vipers are fast. Everyone wants to be fast. That is what Oojov Breelox thought, when he stole the engine from Faulcon de Lacy's Viper prototype. He had the vision that everyone can fly as fast as he wants. He founded the Tsoojov Engineering Corporation, the TEC for short, and the first craft he produced was the Apep No. 1. It reaches almost the 400 LM mark and some technically versed pirates even tuned the engine to reach about 405 LM. Due to this specs it is very popular choice for hunters, assassins, pirates, and couriers. However, because of the rareness of the materials needed for the copied Viper engine the TEC Apep No. 1 is a rare sight. https://app.box.com/s/11r4dks8i7xr2bg18sydbi0du0w84y8x
today i had a new idea for a ship for Oolite.
now its time for texturing but to be honest i am bad at this.
What kind of texture-theme could fit well to this?:

The engine nacelles on this thing made me think, "If Duke Nukem was an Oolite combateer, he'd fly this."
Running Oolite buttery smooth & rock stable w/ tons of eyecandy oxps on:
