See
here. Unfortunately the pictures are gone.

Click here for a little demo OXP on the concept. It is NOT designed for general gameplay usage.
It adds blue glowing spheres around the system main station - just fly into them to dock with it. In effect it adds 5 more docks to the station. Something similar could be done easily by using sub-entities or by expanding the script.
Launching is still from the main dock, but moving a launching ship is trivial to do.
Oh and a nod to Ramirez for his trick of collision-free glows, as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Thargoid wrote:Exactly. The only limitation is that any ports off the axis of rotation for a spinning station would be a bitch to get into and out of...
There's also a minor limitation which is that if the effective launch port isn't in the same place and axis as the real launch port, the station gets the "safe launch spacing" calculations wrong.
The RRS Waystation, for instance, won't launch ships from the red side, if the player is hanging around too close to the green end (because that's where the AI expects launches to go) - but it will launch ships out the red end straight into an obstacle (usually also the player).
Still, there are some interesting possibilities even without multidock support in the core game.

I like that ship Ryan. Is the colouring inspired by the Thargoids?

Yes, it's made to look bug-like. I might even add a chance that it will show up as a Thargoid on the radar. The lasers are green, too.
Here are the specs:
Cargo: 10 tons (extension to 25 tons available)
Energy: 564
Speed: .45 LM
Missiles: 3
They are relatively rare ships in the wild, even rarer as a pirate.
It may be part of my almost-ready Koneko Industries OXP, if you guys want it.

The SKYTHE MKI, the next ship in the Galactic-Heavy-Ordnance-Ship-Technology collection:
and a speed-modeling video of it being made for those who are interested:

I like the look of the Skythe Mk1.

I thought i'd have a go at remaking the 'bug' from Elite 2, which i must admit it a version of Elite i've never heard of, you can see its ship models here:
the above pic taken from the sadly now vanished 'Witch Sapce' website - luckily the site is archived here:
http://web.archive.org/web/200905171227 ... ships.html
My attempt:
It's the usual thing - take the original model, bevel everything in sight and stick some extra faff on it.
The 'gnat' looks an interesting shape too, it's hard to tell from the pic but it's one of those ships
much broader at the front then it is at the back, sort of like the 'moray', might be a fun one to remake
edit: oh hang on, i think i've got it the wrong way around,
i thought those 2 'prongs' pointed forwards like they do on the Krait, but i think they may actually be pointing out from the back of the ship

I like how you describe your work as "...adding extra faff on it"

Neither had I, but the BBC Elite 2 ship sources are still available on Ian Bell's
website, it seems.

and the 'gnat' appears in the early 'design scans archive' also on Ian Bells's website

Shouldn't this be in 'Testing and
Bug reports' ?
