Griff, you are a God.
Lord Braben, Lord Bell, Lord Murphy, Lord Giles...and Lord Griff. Is it me, or are all these religions getting tricky to keep track of?
Nope, because I KNOW Griff exists... :wink:
I'm not an entirely religious Lizard, but this the way it works as I understand it.

Lords Braben and Bell existed first, and created the first Universe; then they grew angry with each other, and battled not as friends, but as ancient foes. In the chaos of this divine war, the first Universe collapsed - but pieces, ghosts of a memory, survived.

Then from the ashes Lord Giles came. He pulled the ghosts together and created the second Universe, in which, you and I dear Bird, and our friends and foes alike, enjoy a thriving existence. Then Lord Giles said, "Build it, and they shall come." We did build it, adding to it, and they are coming.

Now how cool is that? :D

Griff is an engineer, though a damn good one. Obviously, he loves tinkering as all engineers do.

And Lord Murphy? Oh, he existed before Bell and Braben, before Giles, and waaaaay before Griff. Murphy exists to misprogram the docking computer, cut your fuel lines, make the witchdrive spin the wrong direction, and loosen the retaining bolts to a random turbine in your prime movers. A jerk, in other words.

So much for that speech, I surrender the pulpit. :blink: What was this thread about?

Lord Murphy has existed under other names too. Think of Loki from the ancient Norse legends of Old Earth, and The Devil from the ancient and dead religions of Christianity and others from that same planet. One theory is that he is an alien from another dimension, possibly The Trickster, a member of a group called the Pantheon of Discord.

I'll have to download trunk and try out that configurable rotation speed setting Kaks added in, might be neat to have these spinning slowly
Trunk is not needed. Kaks sneaked it into the 1.74.2 update. (Even when it feels not as a bug-fix but as a new feature)
oo, i didn't read the release notes! if you want to add this to the griff hermit oxp and you're playing Oolite v1.74.2, add these 2 lines into the "griff_normalmapped_hermit" settings in the shipdata.plist

Code: Select all

rotating = yes;
station_roll = 0.05;

Guilty as charged! However, the concept of only being able to set a system-wide rotation speed (making all stations behave a bit like synchronised swimmers) seemed to me quite a buggy idea to begin with! :)
Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)

I know, bandwidth exceeded (at time of posting). Someone hotlinked one of my demotivational posters onto another website and I'm guessing someone then included the image URL in an email to people because WHOOSH, one Gig's worth of bandwidth gone overnight.

It'll appear. Or just use the URL.

Something more obscure (or worn out?) than the current offerings?

And also thanks to hotlinking on this very forum. You have a picture in your signature. Are you aware that this uses your photobucket bandwidth every time any forum reader opens a thread which contains a post of yours? To be precise, it uses bandwidth for every single post in every thread. Perhaps it would help your bandwidths issues to remove it from your signature at least temporarily. :wink:

The ten gig a month limit had never been even close to being a problem before. And I also have lots of other Oolite images on this forum. Luckily, the PhotoBucket site allows even freeloaders like me the chance to see what images are popular, how many hits the popular images have, and what sites have hotlinked to them. One of my demotivational posters caught someone's attention on Fark.com, and they hotlinked it on another site (the name of which alludes me). All will be back to normal in a few days / weeks.
