A little late, perhaps, but here you go.. zipped sets of both the regular and printer-friendly versions of the vector maps. Located on the US mirror site only. (Wiki updated also)

Full set of Oolite Vector Maps
Full Set of Oolite Vector Maps (print versions)

BUMP!

The links for the Vector Maps on the Elite Wiki (the online versions, not the zipped ones) seem to be offline.

I enjoyed working on the naming of the G1 sectors.... You guys pick the regions and why, I'll happily work on names. :)
Cmdr Cheyd: we're debating the name of the Devils Triangle region in G1.
Murgh:
==The name==
It's a bit painful. I can't help feeling that it is meant to be The Devil's Triangle. Of course if it is a triangle of many devils, I yearn for a confirmation that this is intentional.

Montana05:
Might be from coding, I am not sure if Devil's is accepted by a Mac, even as text variable. Btw I intend to add some background story to this region, starting with the inhabitants today.
Can you throw any light on the issue?

On Clymn's Vector Map? Must be a Jobsian thing, as it's fine on Windows.

In general. Mac coding is the most unforgiving and uninformative when it comes to error messages I ever encounter.

Come now, there is no Jobsian scapegoat here, only a faulty wiki entry by User:Treczoks. I will wager money he didn't do it on a Mac.

That was twelve years ago. I've slept at least once since then. Sorry.

Re-reading through, likely it was supposed to be Devil's Triangle. (Although, in hindsite, might not be the best name given the advertisement / mass enlightening regarding that name as a euphemism.)

G8 (Xrata)

The Riven Hitachi Senate (Region)

The Hitachi Trade Annex (Route)

Does any body know why these were labelled as such?

Or who I could bug (who might know)?

Conflicts between these maps and the wiki's Galaxy Guide

Cody's post about the Five Points Trade Barrier pointed out the fact that not all information on the maps is replicated on the wiki - and vice versa.

Here is a summary of information about regions and routes:

G1 - Routes and Regions match (checking merely their names - and the number of systems in each)

G2 - Routes and Regions match (checking merely their names)

G3 - Routes match
Wiki is missing Runner's Leap and Rub' al Khali from the map

G4 - Routes match
Wiki is missing the Veusar Cordon anarchies, the Razor's Edge anarchies, the Ririla Influx anarchy, the Aninatorian Irruption anarchies and the Lower Insurgency anarchies.

G5 - Routes and Regions match (checking merely their names)

G6 - Routes and Regions match (checking merely their names)

G7 - Routes match
Map is missing the new Lizard's Claw region.

G8 - neither match!
Map is missing Spaceway L2
Wiki is missing the Crystaline Desolation ("systems affected by the New Genesis war")

Question: What are these Space Routes all about?

In the Famous Planets day there were liners which only ran along them, but no more (that code was omitted from Liners). And the Thargoid's Fuel Station are more prominent along them.

But is there anything else? And... is there supposed to be anything else?

Charts, maps, named sectors within them... I love all that, but I've never had any use for the trade routes.

Hello.

When designing the routes we tried (and everyone helped) to go from high to low to high: high industrial to low agricutural or low industrial to high agricultural. We had a lot of fun back at the beginning finally being able to properly visually look at the maps and for the first time say...

"Right, to maximise profit where WOULD you go." It was one of the advantages of generating "The Shield System" for quickly visually summating planets. I always meant to make up metal badges of the more important systems. But I didn't want Fronteer dropping a quarter ton of hot minty bricks on my head.

(Things were so much easier when this franchise was abandonware you know?)

:D
