Smivs, I'll trade you 1 custom hud(your specification) for 1 ultradeluxe Cobramk3 with a special integrated subent design and all the maps, textures that go with it(exact particulars yet to be determined). :D

And I'll even throw in this slightly neglected pumpkin pie hud too. :P

I actually have some model sketches and part of a storyline I made about two years ago. It's very loosely based upon elements taken from the GAP series (the idea originated there).

I have no coding experience, but it might be fun to look at the storyline again and see if I can make it more complete. It's full of big holes right now if I remember correctly.

One thing I am very sceptical towards is introducing new species into Oolite, and I need some mad obscure ET to make it work. I suppose I could use Thargoids, but then we would need a Thargoid station somewhere and a way of letting the player dock with it under certain conditions.

kid, first thing you should learn is that insults do not compensate insufficiency.

next thing to learn would be the difference between manga merchandise style toys and simplistic elegance.

What I think everyone needs to remember is that this is the friendliest board this side of Riedquat ... or that side, for that matter. Can we keep it that way please? There is the one overriding law of internet slap-fights: the first one to stop, wins.

now haven seen the yoji shinkawa(metal gear, zone of enders) illust up there i must ask you to look more and gain experience in game art (oolite is a game so...) or the akiba key culture in wich you evidently need more illustration and knowledge i have been playing games since i was 3 (now im 21 tough) i have played close to 500 titles to date from E.V.O Search of the eden and comander keen to Monster hunter Portable 3rd and Catherine and Armored core 4 answer so, i have a little experience at least to say your models lack of:

a descent shape just smoothing cilinders and Y and Z scaling it isnt enough

a ship's texture that actually made you see ship's details

artistic sense of the object, not just a mere geometric shape...

game making and game art needs to be inmersive and your ships just look (in a more cruel opinion) a candy with exhaust plumes my game reviews blog support this (cruel) opinion with his audience with 33000 hits last time and i added ADDS 3 months ago and just because they'r cute so my (cruel and destructive) opinion counts you need to improve and lot, i have been in oolite since less than 1 month and im releasing a full shipset, just wait i have 6 months in this... this is just a practice for me for i will incurse in the game making industry soon so... well i leave you with more real game ART just to illustrate you

simplistic and beauty eh?

Can everyone please slow down here? It's a game we are talking about and this is about making optional expansions to it. It is no pissing contest, OK? Whoever doesn't like Wyvern's models is free to not install them. BTW, same goes for your models commanderxairon, despite how great you think they are.

I am not willing to stop this topic because I don't want Wyvern to lose the thread where she has already presented and develops her work. Anyone willing to carry on the mine-is-better-than-yours discussion is kindly requested to take it to PMs.

I think the closest these boards came to a flame war was between Commander McLane and Lestradae over conceptual disagreements, and then there was that rather nasty thing with Sung, who relented when he understood he wouldn't get paid for working on Oolite. I do believe everybody here pretty much agrees that such agressive posting should be left to 4chan and the likes.

After all, the spirit we try to foster isn't one of competition ("mine is bigger than yours" or "whatever you can do I can do better"), but rather of cooperation ("one for all and all for one") and copyleft ("E pluribus unum")... That's also the reason why someone made a joke on your curriculum post.

If I can just chip in here as well, this is supposed to be a friendly discussion forum, and we pride ourselves on the way that people from around the World, and from all walks of life and all age groups co-exist happily here to enjoy a shared interest.
We prefer an atmosphere of encouragement to one of criticism, and we also appreciate that people are different, both in terms of their abilities and desires. The nice thing about Oolite and it's OXPs is that it's a matter of choice. You don't have to download an OXP if you don't like it. Hell, you don't even have to 'not like it'. There are dozens of really good OXPs I will never download simply because what they add would not fit into my Ooniverse.
So if you don't like something, keep it to yourself. If you have a valid and genuine critical input regarding something, state your thoughts politely and in a friendly and productive manner.
And most important of all, just learn how this community works. It's not 'The Friendliest Board...' by accident. It's because the long-term members have found ways to cope with the vast differences that exist here. We make allowances, tolerate a little bit of silliness, and (rarely) when necessary deal harshly with those who try to upset the balance.
So please lets get away from this egotistical nonesense, and learn to get on with each other.

I agree with what Smivs said. And about the "My OXP is better than yours" debate, I would rather have a world where people get along to collaborate on projects. Besides, wouldn't it be cool if all the great OXPers got together to make a ship? I might need to start a topic for discussing this idea... :D

Hi There!

I just looked into my log and found the following:

Code: Select all

11:07:49.921 [ship.setUp.escortShipCircularReference]: ----- WARNING: Ship <ShipEntity 0xe127e38>{"Wyvern Queen (Navy)" position: (-62903.9, -87793.2, 637184) scanClass: CLASS_POLICE status: STATUS_IN_FLIGHT} requested escorts, when it is an escort ship itself. I'm not sure about what this means, just wanted to post it in the case it could eventually cause any problems.

See you,
