True enough - mind you, so have a couple of other forums I frequent. The game itself rolls on though - it's looking good!

There have been quiet days, but overall it's still pretty lively here I'd say. Try going away for a few days...you'd be surprised how long it might take to catch up!

Disagree.
There have always been quiet periods.
Looking back over the last few months there have been an influx of new members and quite a few have turned to the dark side. We also have quite a bit ov development on the game itself going on (thanks cim and the other developers), so all in all I think Oolite is in great shape.

There are bound to be a quiet period when E:D comes out I suppose, but until Frontier open E:D for modding, I'm not worried.

I'm not worried at all.

While E: D may (and I REALLY hope it will) become FFE+++, Oolite will still be ELITE++^n

Yep, exactly. The next burst of frantic activity will come sooner or later.

And by the way: as far as actual game development is concerned, Oolite is currently as busy and lively as ever. Cim is on a roll with lots of new developments for 1.79, making significant changes (and hopefully improvements) to the game, the likes of which we haven't seen in quite a while.

I can see that, Griff.
I think as you learn more, and the game develops, each project needs a little bit more time spent on it to maintain and improve the standards. That is one reason the game is constantly improving, and of course the users demand more as well. It all takes time!
(And of course we're all getting older, slower and a bit more senile which doesn't help :P )

Speak for yours....

erm.. what were we talking about again?
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Yeah, from what I see on the boards, the game is proceeding along rather nicely. Whenever I see cim post about the core game's progress and development, I either think "Huh, that sounds like a great idea!" or "Huh, I thought the game already did that!" It only seems to improve and turn the game that I'm actually playing more and more into the game that I already play in my head.

Also, quietness on the boards could be interpreted as a good thing - no bug reports!

I am getting the stirrings again. They are only slight at the moment (I have something to read over first that I received today) but I can see them awakening.

I think Doomsayers about Oolte are presumptive...
Although I'll want to give ED a whirl that doesn't mean I will necessarily forsake this Ooniverse

In regards to Board action, my thoughts are that quality is more important than quantity and I think Oolite is going in the right direction allowing diversity, creativity and personalisation of the gaming experience through OXPs and development... ::shrugs::
Oolite is Ooheavy... Cpt says "Write on Commander"
