A Mexican newspaper reports that bored Royal Air Force pilots stationed
on the Falkland Islands have devised what they consider a marvelous new
game. Noting that the local penguins are fascinated by airplanes, the
pilots search out a beach where the birds are gathered and fly slowly
along it at the water's edge. Perhaps ten thousand penguins turn their
heads in unison watching the planes go by, and when the pilots turn
around and fly back, the birds turn their heads in the opposite
direction, like spectators at a slow-motion tennis match. Then, the
paper reports "The pilots fly out to sea and directly to the penguin
colony and overfly it. Heads go up, up, up, and ten thousand penguins
fall over gently onto their backs.

Well known myth. The penguins don't fall over. They have however increased their population in the mine field areas as the whalers can't get to them to use as fuel to render down the whale fat. No trees on the Falklands.Diziet Sma wrote:Ahhh.. an old favourite..![]()

Still... a funny anecdote nonetheless!Tricky wrote:Well known myth. The penguins don't fall over. They have however increased their population in the mine field areas as the whalers can't get to them to use as fuel to render down the whale fat. No trees on the Falklands.

I've seen these; in fact I toyed with the idea of getting one when I got a new computer earlier this year, but I was a little turned off at the lack of exact price quotes (and machinesDiziet Sma wrote:It's still going.. despite ups, downs, halts and starts, it's still alive, as the AmigaONE X1000, running AmigaOS 4.1.5.CommRLock78 wrote:I wish I had gotten more experience than I wound up getting on those Amigas - they were cool. Maybe...Given sufficient time, what you put off doing today will get done by itself.
That prospect is about as hopeful as this one:Tricky wrote:For all OXP'ers...Maybe...Given sufficient time, what you put off doing today will get done by itself.
