Sadly not. Turns out we've a good friend visiting this weekend who we haven't seen for a while, and 'tis also another friend's birthday. But enjoy yourselves anyways!

Might not be a bad idea. I emailed Ye Olde Trip about meeting there and got the response:

"Under 18s are welcome until 7pm, every Saturday is very busy at the Trip so I will be honest at 3pm you may struggle to get enough room in one particular area to sit together."

Looks like a better choice, doesn't it?

Meh, we'll see how it goes. Meet there on time and maybe as people move in and out we'll squeeze up some space.

If not, then the Sal IS a good pub - especially if you like real ales. It has the WORST web site I have EVER seen though. Well, almost.

I have no issue changing to the Sal. Last time I was in it on a Saturday it was reasonably quiet. it definitely has bigger tables and is more spacious than the Trip, which is a bit cramped when it's busy.

I intend to be there before 4pm.

A successful technique I have used previously is an A4 sheet leaning against the inevitable table menu with an appropriate logo on it. In our case, something like this: I shall print one off and take it with me.

If, after the young ones depart circa 8pm, there remains enough bodies for a pub crawl, I'm up for that too. Or sit and get gently plastered.

I will also bring alson a A4 with a Oolite poster but will hopefully also be able to recoginize people from the pictures posted. I'll issue a pic tonight.

Sound like it is going to be a good day for all. I was hoping to make it but sadly not this time.

Just to avoid any last minute confusion regarding venue are we saying Ye Olde Trip or the Old Salutation for Saturday's meeting ?

As the Olde Trip sounds like it will be too busy, I assume we're meeting at the Old Salutation. We'll be there at 4pm onwards, so looking forward to seeing you all then.

I just phoned them to book their smaller snug - no chance. One of their snugs is being decorated.

So, be prepared to move on, and if arriving after 4, of needing to phone one of us to get confirmation of where we've gone.

OK, I know it's late in the day, but there may be a question mark over my attendance. I've been ill with some sort of dastardly gastric thing and have only just started to feel better (which is why I've not been online since Wednesday morning).

At the very least, I will be curtailing my length of involvement. At the moment my intent is to be at the Sal for 3:30. My wife may or may not be with me - not sure yet, complicated to explain. I/we will stay as long as we can (hopefully a couple of hours or more).

If the bug has failed to go away then I will notify all via this topic (I'm not gonna risk infecting people). I'd suggest we all exchange mobile numbers via PM just in case.

Anyway, for the moment I will be there. If that changes I'll post on this topic and send you all PMs.
