Nah, its ROT13 code. I find it annoying.
Understand your sentiment, but it has a purpose, and gives the reader a choice.
For those who use Firefox, might I recommend the LeetKey add-on. It gives you access to ROT13 transformation on the rightmouse click menu amongst others things.

Well they do sound like they are in a bit of pain before they die. Maybe they should burst with a pop when they get too hot. and leave a sticky mess on the windscreen. A system overhaul including a valet will get rid of the mess.

There are similar plug-ins for Chrome, downloadable from their app store. Personally I run ROT13er.

Brilliant. I didn't know about this. Thanks.

Was extremely frustrating.
There have been people that cared about trumbles and kept them as pets. Lestradea claimed that he flew with a single trumble for over a year.

Just a hint: trumbles only multiply when you feed them, but they don't like all cargo. They only eat one of the first 7 types in your inventory, and furs. All other cargo can you carry safely allongside trumbles. As long as you don't transport dangerous cargo, they can be nice companions on your long voyages.

The chance of eating a slave pod is only 1% of the chance of eating a food pod, but if they are hungry..... Maybe even an occasional pilot?

It is just a pity that all hints about trumbles are about destroying them, and not to keep them safe as a pet.

But not really surprising considering the available information . . .

Pets? They're vermin!

What's this, do you have an urge to teach them to tapdance, or are you just masochistic... I'd rather loose a pack of Riedquatian rats on my ship - they're just about as hard to exterminate, but are by far less destructive, aren't parthenogenetical, breed slower than trumbles - and most importantly, they stay away from the viewscreen...

On the other hand, how hard would it be to OXP a spayed trumble for those who would keep one?

Impossible, as whilst you can award one by script, there's nothing else you can do (removal or change in number owned for example).

IIRC this is deliberate to stop someone writing a Rento-OO-Kill OXP for trumble removal, in the process breaking the trumble mission.

IIRC, if it doesn't eat, it can't breed... can't a scripted trumble have its hunger interfered with, or redo one of them completely in .js reusing the skins and sounds?

No, quite the opposite: instead of using the existing code to create different-looking vermin, I was thinking about coding a pet with the trumble images and sounds - only one of them, and a spayed and muzzled one to boot.
