Oh yes indeed!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

@CaptSolo I like the Piton design, reminds me of the python.
@Ironfist I like the Draven ships, especially the design for the carrier with the 4 nacelles.

Good work fellas. :D

DaddyHoggy and maik thanks for making the changes I was wondering what was stopping it appearing correctly.
There is a bit of a story line at the top of the zip file, but a lack of a true description for the ships.

I just went through the back story: quite more than just a bit! Nice to have context for the ships, thanks!

Malk, those are cool ships. Thanks for sharing them. They are flying about in my Ooniverse as I type. :)

Added them to the WIP section of the [wiki]OXP List[/wiki] as well.

Regarding the directory naming: Please avoid the suffix .oxp in the name of the highest level directory. Right now you have

Code: Select all

draven.oxp
+- draven.oxp
   +- config
   +- AI
   +- etc.
+- readme
+- back story
On Macs, directories with the suffix .oxp are treated as packages, so the actual OXP is not visible unless you open this package. Simply rename the top level directory to draven (without the suffix) and everything is fine.

Edit: fixed auto-correction induced typo (driven instead of draven)

I like the texture, it looks like reptile scales. Well done!

Hi folks,

here is a screenshot of another new ship I´m currently working on.

Image

I´ve named the ship coluber. (And I hope the name is not in use already. I have checked the wiki and the BB for the name an did not find it there.)

Coluber is a genus of fast moving, as far as I know nonvenomous snakes commonly known as racers. Colubers are not harmful ... ... as long as you leave them alone! But if you goad them, they become VERY aggressive. The nature of the ship is similar. For the main part it is a cargo ship. But it is fast, maneuverable and armed well enough to withstand a pirate attack without the help of escort ships.

This are the stats of the coluber:

Size (metres, W×H×L) 100 x 40 x 112
Cargo capacity 70 TC
Cargo bay extension yes (15 TC)
Maximum speed 0.333 LM
Manoeuvrability Roll: 2.25
Pitch: 1.0
Yaw: 0.8
Thrust 36
Energy banks 6
Energy recharge rate Medium (3.6)
Gun mounts Fore, Aft
Missile slots 5
Shield boosters available Yes
Military shields available Yes
Hyperspace capable Yes
Available to player Yes
Base price 322500 Cr

The stats are derived from a cobra MK III and a Boa 2 cruiser. I took the mean value of the stats of the cobra and the boa2 as stats for the coluber. Unfortunately I found entry in the shipdata.plist that enables half missiles . So i gave the coluber 5 missiles (like the boa2) and reduced the cargo space as compensation.

The model is derived from the python model with minor changes: Only 20 polygons, 30 edges and 12 nodes. The texture is 512x512 with a em-map of the same size. The design and the textures are very simple but I think for a first work the ship looks quite o.k..

Best regards

C.B.

Nice python-like ship with original name and stats not uber. Good job Captain Beatnik. :D

Nice one Beatnik, very sensible and balanced and it looks good too. Just one bit of constructive criticism....those banks of spotlights illuminating the name seem to cut-off rather abruptly. You could either try to fade them out a bit more or just extend them down to the 'edge' of the ship.
Overall, though, an excellent piece of work.

Are they spotlights? I just thought it was a fancy paint job to highlight the name.

Hi,

thanks for your kind comments.

The white dots indeed are spotlights. (At least they are intended to be.)

@Smivs: I´m going to try to fade the lights out. BTW the inspiration to use spotlights to illuminate the name comes from your shipset which is one of my favorite OXP´s
