I went back and redid some of the bits on the cobraIII, it was a quite an early attempt at normal mapping a ship, and whilst i was at it i took out a lot of the scratches and dirt in the paintwork so it looks a bit more respectable and might get through it's MOT

Cool!

Griff, now 1.73 is effectively "out" - is there anyway, without trawling around, to find all your new ships in one place? Like, I don't know, a link in your sig to a shared folder on box? Just a thought...

I've uploaded the griff_boa.oxp here:-
http://www.box.net/shared/eipirjmmp8 (4.1MB)
blimey! 4.1MB for 1 ship.

Edit: here's a more optimised version created following ahrumans advice (a few posts below)
http://www.box.net/shared/4rm3dqsclr 1.3MB

If you're on windows and have directx9.0 and a shader supporting graphics card installed I've included a resources folder in the zip file with all the files needed and a quick quide on how to load in the models & shaders from this oxp into rendermonkey and how to swap out the textures and models for your own designs.

No worries about the shader bindings Ahruman. although i did notice that if the shipdata.plist is in OpenStep format the ship's turrets didn't work properly in that they were often pointing in odd directions and firing off the occasional potshot at nothing at all, having the shipdata.plist in xml made them much more aggressive and accurate, i've put both format .plists in a folder in the download if you want to check - possible somethingi've done wrong with the initialiseTurret setup_action in the openstep format .plist?

Edit: forgot to mention it's a non-player ship ship, plus it's stupidly sized at the moment, the plan is to have it park outside stations and use smaller ships to ferry cargo onboard them.
Having worked my way backwards through the thread downloading as I go, I got to here and found the boa is no longer linked!

There isn't an easy to find link at the moment but it shouldn't be too long, i've been busy sorting out all the oxp's i've done so far, basically just fixing thing like the internal camera views and shader goofs i've made.
I just need to give them all a final check over the weekend then i'll upload them to box.net and try and sort out a page of links on the wiki

Here (down there) is one of the Griff's boas I downloaded recently. Don't know which one is it. I would say a 4.1 MB one, but it is 3.2 MB uncompressed... (2.7 MB 7z-ed)

Link is to file in my box.net account. Not the original where I downloaded it.

As soon as Griff posts a working link, I'll take it down. (Done)

ohh... I remember.

I deleted the color-wheel-300_with_floatingpoint.png, hence the smaller size. (I think..)

Possibly a preview pic too..

I think this is the thread with the most up to date version of the boa
https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=5292
i did use this ship in an early normal mapping experiment so there is a screen shot in the shaders outpost thread of it appearing normal mapped, but i never finished it off, not out of lazyness - the way i'd mirrored half of the model over itself in the texture layout made the lighting go wrong on the mirrored half of the ship, it was going to be a load of work to fix it so i decided not to bother :D and started making another set of normal mapped ships instead.
you're welcome to keep hosting the file if you wish chaky and make any ammendments to it as you see fit, infact the thread i linked to above has some cool tweaks by LB and Cmdr Wyvern that make the ship play better in game.
