Re: [WIP] Rescue Stations 1.3 wip4

Post by spara »

Almost done here. Hopefully the last wip (1.3 wip4) version.

* new mining outpost dock texture
* support for escort formations oxp (Thanks to Keeper for suggestion)
* hopefully fixed a self introduced npc docking problem with rescue station. (Thanks to Keeper for reporting)
* handling of generic black boxes has been changed. they do not trigger "scanning for lifesigns..." any more
* anomaly presented as visual effect
* small touches and polishes

Features and upgrades from my todo list are now in, just needs a little test driving :D . Report any oddities/errors encountered.

Done here. Hopefully. One small tweak added. Mining Outposts don't appear in the market inquirer any more. Don't see any reason for them to advertise themselves.

Version is now 1.3, and it's a release. Download from wiki.

Thanks for reporting. Macs are a lot more sensitive to plist errors that Linuxes, so I'm not getting that one. I'm going to need your help here. I did a quick sweep through the file by eye and found a few missing ";"s that usually make things go bad with macs. Could you please test this shipdata.plist with your Reascue Stations oxp and report back. Just replace the one in the oxp's Config folder and start the game with pressing the shitf-key until you see the spinning cobra.

I have updated this to 1.79 and the version number in the expansion manager is 1.4.

* Saving is now possible at Waystations, HQs and Mining Outposts. These now use populator.
* Mission offers are removed from docking and available only from station interfaces (f4).
* Under the hood: random mission ship selecting is done via Ship.keysForRole/shipDataForKey.

OK, installed ver 1.3.1 Accepted a mission to locate a Black Box on Lerela. Went to Lerela & flew around it a bunch of times, but could not locate a black box. Finally, gave up. How do you find the darn thing?? Is it supposed to show on the scanner?, or do I need something else added to my ship? My equipment list includes the Advanced Space Compass, Advanced Navigational Array, Flight Formation Autopilot, and the Scanner Targeting Enhancement.

Love the look of the RSS Stations, by the way.

There is a vast asteroid field positioned between the witchspace buoy and the sun. The trader was sun skimming, if I recall the story right. You'll find the black box from there. It will ping you when you're close enough. Can be a pain to find though as the asteroid field is quite large. I heartily recommend using Thargoid's excellent [wiki]Cargo Spotter OXP[/wiki].

OK, finally found that Black Box - scanner was almost completely white with all the asteroids! Unable to locate version 1.4 Where can I DL it at?
Thanks

Version 1.4 is for Oolite 1.79, which is the current dev version. The oxp can be found from it's built-in expansion pack manager.

...or, if you're like me and prefer manually installing add-ons, http://addons.oolite.org/oxps/ has links to each OXZ directly. I have my system set up to open an OXZ with 7-Zip, so I just create a new .oxp folder in my Oolite's AddOns folder then unzip the OXZ there. It's a couple extra steps compared to the "old days" of OXPs, but I end up with the same result, which as someone who likes to tweak things is more desirable than the new OXZ setup.

You can tweak easily in the place where OXZ manager hold these if you make a shortcut or symlink into your desktop which points to this folder in Windows:

Code: Select all

C:\Oolite-Trunk\oolite.app\GNUstep\Library\ApplicationSupport\Oolite\ManagedAddOns
Linux:

Code: Select all

/home/yourLoginName/GNUstep/Library/ApplicationSupport/Oolite/ManagedAddOns

Another question for Spara:

I accepted a rescue mission at the RSS station at Onatbeza for a pilot that had ejected and was supposedly at Inzaquma. Went to Inzaquma dock and was informed that he was not there. Likely captured by slavers and they could be found at a location mapped to my Advanced Navigational Array, and would be identified by an "S". Went to ANA and can find no planet identified by an "S". Flew all around Inzaquma hoping to combat the slavers & rescue the pilot, but although I killed a few bad guys, I have yet to locate the pilot!!

I really like this OXP, & especially the odd twist that gets thrown in occasionally, but is there a better 'read-me' file than what comes with the OXP download? I need more 'how to' information.

Thanks

You could try the Wiki entry.. that's often a good source for more info on an OXP..

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
