Sorry about that, i made quite a few changes to the asteroids and forgot to update this oxp!
No problem at all.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news once again, but now I'm seeing this in the log:

Code: Select all

18:52:06.727 [shipData.load.begin]: Loading ship data.
  18:52:06.982 [shipData.merge.failed]: ***** ERROR: one or more shipdata.plist entries have like_ship references that cannot be resolved: griff_rock_chunk_2, griff_rock_chunk_3, griff_rock_chunk_4, griff_rock_chunk_5, griff_rock_chunk_6
I'm guessing they should be like_ship "griff_rock_chunk_1" or "splinter", but I'm not sure which. The naming suggests the former, but the role suggests the latter.

well, i seem to be making a real pig's ear of this, no wonder this thread grew to 100 pages, there's about 2 pages of new oxp announcement and the rest are all bug reports :lol:
I've sorted out this problem with the like_ship references and i also noticed that the role for the rock chunks was wrong too, they had the same one as the splinter when they should have had their own unique role.
I've updated the oxp (it's back up at deep horizons see link in first post or on the wiki), the addition shipset had the same problem too, and probably the asteroids standalone oxp although i haven't checked that one yet

Asteroids - added some new large asteroid objects, some new boulder objects and some small burning rock chunks that hang around for a while...
The large 'roids are excellent, Griff - they are massive, look good and occasionly prevent me from hyperspacing out.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Minor bug with the replace shipset. For the Anaconda, there is:

Code: Select all

"escort-ship" = "griff_normalmapped_cobra_mk1_NPC";
but in the replace shipset this ship doesn't exist. Should be

Code: Select all

"escort-ship" = "cobramk1";
Also the "escorts" = 6; line appears to be missing from the Anaconda definition.

That probably explains why I've not seen any escorted Anacondas lately, yes?

Query: are those quotation marks necessary? I see shipdata.plists both with and without them for the same type of entry.

Yes.

Generally they're not necessary, unless the key in the plist has weird characters in it (spaces, for instance), but it never causes problems to use them, so I try to remember to.

I've added to my folder at box.net a ship based on one of the models designed for Elite 2, the 'Bug'
Sadly, I don't think Elite 2 ever got released so I've no idea what role Braben & Bell envisioned for the ship, i've made it a slowish trader, just a bit more expensive and with slightly better speed & cargo stats than a Cobra mk I
Image

I don't think i'll add this into the bundle oxp, i'm hoping to make it part of a small companion bundle of ships based on other versions of elite than the 8-bit ones

Interesting... would that include the Caiman, by any chance?

Looks great, but where can I find that box.net folder? Haven't spotted any links to it so far.

First page/post of this thread, or at [EliteWiki] Griff Industries.

Yeah i think so, from the manual it seems to hunt in packs so it might be a fun one to do, i'm definitely going to do the hognose and possibly the bushmaster from arcelite, (bushmaster because it's a mining guild only ship and it might be fun to have one of those), i also like the look of the gnat from Elite2, sounds like a small fast annoying ship and has some cool prongs that trail out behind in, sort of like a krait in reverse :D

@ BuggyBY - sorry, download link is http://www.box.com/shared/rpkms25cc9 - there's a bunch of stuff in there, the bug is griff_elite2_bug.zip - there's a button on the page to sort by date, so if you do that (with most recent at the top), it'll be the first one in the list :D

Oh good! You should put a link to Griff Industries in your sig, Griff.
