Christina, if -nosplash doesn't improve things for you, you might have a dodgy opengl installation.
We can still help. Can you download and run the OpenGL Extensions Viewer for Windows XP / Vista? It's here:
http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/download.html

If you click Rendering tests on the left-hand side pane, then click the " > " / play button on the main pane, it should show some rotating cubes for a while then it'll display a summary like this one:

If we have that kind of info (which was the highest number in the test column that gives a Passed result, and whatever you have instead of GeForce Go 7300/....) we should be able to help you get your system going!

That's really good.

Enjoy.

This link will get you the latest GPU drivers (if you haven't found it already):

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

It's worth having the latest one, or at least 9.9.

Hey.. another Aussie! :D whereabouts are you? Brisbane here..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

If you've got the right set up you can stretch it over 3 screens...

Heh, I grew up in Brissy. We should organise an Oolite meetup when I'm there in Feb next year.

My only time in Oz (Christmas 1997) I spent a week in Brisbane (I did the coast of Queensland (only) Cairns down to the Gold Coast). Does it still have Kodak Beach in the middle of town? Classic idea - just loved it!

Thanks for this Kaks - I'm going to give it to my students to play with - most of our benchmarking is inevitably done for DX - it's nice to have an OpenGL one.

Just had a play with my (i.e. work) XPS1730 - 1900fps across the board except for 2.1 test where it drops to 450fps for a single cube and about 1100fps across the board and 150fps for 2.1 test for multiple cubes.

Turning on or off the SLI for the two 9800M GTs doesn't make much difference though...

YES fixed ... all the addons i can down load from wiki and started to play..
jumped to leesa with food for the industrials and errrrmm..

found a refuel station ....
where is the spacestation .. found the black monks docked but cant save there??.
work out the "active ID" when over cross hairs and "j" gives me jump drive .( i remember the original..wow so much the same )..

but cant find the station ..
is there a quick way ..or is this part of the new game ? playing hunt the station.?
is there a way of bringing up a list of all traffic in the area . ,selecting one and radioing them and locking on with autodrive/.
( like frontier)

any way .. just wow ... so much for a game that is free and so much work from people.. great. :D :D . ..now the thing is..
as a3d graphic effects editor for a film company.. i work with 3d max and maya.. so how do i get space vehiches in to the game.. an where do i find the perametres for sizes and polygon counts/ textures etec...

:) :) :) :D
