The physics seem to be good (at least it sounds good to me!) but is there a way to calm it down a bit? I tend to play Oolite in short sessions slotted in between family, work and other stuff and while it is often very therapeutic to take out my stress on a lonely python or two, rounding up all the cargo afterwards can be very time consuming as I chase around after them. More often than not I end up ignoring anything moving at a high velocity - in game it wouldn't make much sense to do this, but I just don't have the (real) time to maximise the profits from my moments of piracy ... it seemed easier first time round in Elite (or perhaps I just didn't have kids then)
Sounds incredibly familiar. Every word of it...

Yup... there are a LOT of Science type people here... just don't let the science get in the way of the fun... it is easy to get wrapped around the axle and try to make the game "better" while it takes the fun away... I would rather be blasting a target then worrying about the x-y-z coordinates of myself in relation to the x-y-z coordinates of my missle and how it will reach it's target in another x-y-z plane.

There is a magic word that you will see often that explains away all the "deep physics" and that is "Handwavium".

Actually it is a pretty powerful tool for explaining the unexplainable and allowing you to get on with the game.
