Maybe underscores before and after the product name might make it more attention-grabbing.cim wrote:Also no. There is no support for text formatting in the mission screens (beyond spaces, newlines, etc).

Or perhaps the IP lawyers should get involved: "I hear that you can get a good price for Wolf Fur™ in Aesbion®"BuggyBY wrote:Maybe underscores before and after the product name might make it more attention-grabbing.cim wrote:Also no. Though, since that screen is supposed to be bits of conversations overheard (and occasionally misheard) in a crowded room, I'm not sure I'd actually agree with highlighting the goods even if I could.

I was just reminded by Pleb of the old Dr Nil constores.
Wouldn't this be something to consider implementing in Pi-42's trading floors?Dr Nil (in yah_set_A_condock.png) wrote:HOURLY AUCTIONS

Hello,
Really enjoying Oolite, starting a new commander after a loss of backup issue..
Am interested in trying the New Cargoes OXP but have not been able to to access the download at this link:
http://compsoc.dur.ac.uk/~cim/oolite/Ne ... _1.1.0.zip
from the wiki page at http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/New_Cargoes
** update: was able to download the oxp tonight, will give it a go.
Thanks

Hi Cim. Am I right that this OXP does not work in trunk 1.77? Due to the fact that you must go to the alternative market through the interfaces screen?

Correct. (Well, at OXP stations you can still access the market through F2 F8...)pagroove wrote:Hi Cim. Am I right that this OXP does not work in trunk 1.77? Due to the fact that you must go to the alternative market through the interfaces screen?
I'll release an updated version once 1.77 is out.
Re: [RELEASE] New Cargoes OXP (1.2.0 released 8 January 2013
And now it's out, so New Cargoes 1.2.0 is available. It only works in 1.77 - 1.76 users should stick with 1.1.0 - but there aren't any important changes between the two other than for Oolite compatibility.

I cannot believe I waited until now to try this OXP out..
It actually makes trading interesting, challenging, and fun!
I just made almost 200Cr per TC profit on a 77 TC load of earthquake predictors.. and I've just heard news of some crazy money to be made hauling Lethal Water.. so I'm off to pick up a load now..
Thanks cim!

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I found it too hard, never made a profit with it so I removed the OXP.Diziet Sma wrote:I cannot believe I waited until now to try this OXP out..

You really do need to follow the advice on the Wiki page and the Detailed Trading Advice page to stand much chance.. and think about what you're doing.. and a notepad next to your keyboard is essential. I plan to stay away from the auctions for now, though..
Anyway.. as I was saying, I have a good lead on some lethal water that should fetch over 400Cr per TC in profit.. so I'm outa here!

I was wondering when you mentioned that initial profit whether it was "beginner's luck" or "reading the documentation". Good luck with the Lethal Water...Diziet Sma wrote:You really do need to follow the advice on the Wiki page and the Detailed Trading Advice page to stand much chance..

Thanks! That TraderNet subscription is worth its weight in platinum..
The funny thing is, I'd gone to that system as I'd heard they were a good source for cheap Duralium, as I already knew of a system that was looking for some, and happened to spot the earthquake computers up for sale. A lightbulb went off in my head as I remembered a system next-door to the Duralium buyer, who'd happily pay through the nose for the EQ Comps. (And I made just under 100Cr profit per TC on the 38 TC of Duralium! )
All told, I cleared almost 20,000Cr for an 8-hop round trip.. think I'll take a break from bounty-hunting..

Re: [RELEASE] New Cargoes OXP (1.2.0 released 8 January 2013
I was thinking about posting this in 'Tales from the spacelanes...,' but it's really just about New Cargoes.
It was in Cearso that I came upon some cargo pods floating about. I scooped them up, and one of them contained furs. When I docked at the main station, I checked to see if I had any Specialist Trade Goods. Yes, the furs were actually Dironothaxaurian Life-bones. They were worth 0.1 credits. If they were any cheaper, I'd have to pay someone to take them off my hands. It wasn't a complete loss as my next stop was Labilaen where I could unload them as generic furs for a decent price.
I got to Labilaen and pulled into the main station. Just as I was about to sell them, I thought that I should check if they were worth any more than in Cearso (Lord knows they couldn't be worth any less). Labilaen was offering... 916.3 credits for that 1 ton. That definitely made my day.

@ cim- Awesome OXP! I share Diziet's sentiments. On my 'must-have' list.Diziet Sma wrote:It actually makes trading interesting, challenging, and fun!

Screenshots! Lots of screenshots! I have a moderate library of screen shots taken from the planet info and the TraderNet. I made a crazy amount of credits from the new cargo runs.
