Try the first post in this thread! But there are some problems with bandwidth, I believe,
This is the first thing I tried, multiple times, always followed by endless "Connecting" loops :(

Then "Problem loading page".

You can get four of them here, I think.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I think Diz is working on that, but it'll take him some time to upload them.

Download Link for the base OXP and Galaxies 1, 2, 4 and 5:

Download Link for Galaxies 3, 6, 7 and 8:

I'll add these to the Wiki shortly.

Thank you for this. I'm still trying to sort out my server bandwidth.

You're welcome.. :D

You may want to set up a Google Docs account yourself. It's one of the few free hosting solutions I've seen that can handle really large files, and they don't seem to have bandwidth limitations, from what I've read so far. (Storage for free accounts I think is capped at 5GB, but that holds the Povray set nicely.)

The fast reacton is awesome :D

Thanks, guys, most appreciated!

One more question: Combined with Famous Planets, does Famous Planets work?

Short answer - nope. We're working on combining FP into Povray Planets. Galaxy1_v1.1 has the combined set , a combined set for galaxy 2 is yet to be released.

I think my server bandwidth will reset for december and many of the existing download links will work again. Until all the Xmas bandwidth is gone too.

I finally decided to go with POVray planets even though G2 isn't merged with Famous Planets yet; I can't wait to see what they look like, but from what I've seen in the screenshots, it looks beautiful - thank you all for the great work . Now if my connection were just faster...

I decided to try POVray planets on the old Pentium 4 machine (among some other eye candy like Griffs). Everything by and large is okay, and the game doesn't seem to be too bogged down, but the cube maps are somehow not getting wrapped around the planets correctly. Is there something I'm missing about getting cube maps to project correctly? (BTW, as you probably see from the picture, I'm using 1.77r5049).

That's a really old nightly. Current version is 1.77.0.5594 I believe. Try that and see what happens.

LOL - I know it is rather old :P. This has given me the opportunity to try updating the trunk by $ sudo oolite-trunk-update :D. ... The code looks like it executed properly - and yes, success! My, my, my.... absolutely beautiful! Come hell or high water, it's time for trunk on my new machine .
Thanks for the tip JazHaz - updating that trunk was a piece o' cake.
